Tonight's meeting

So much for developing a better relationship with the council. We must be the only club whose fans stand during games...

Jobsworth bastards.

The bureaucracy of the Blackpool Council is a joke
AKA Blackpool Clowncil.
Our council is one of the worst in the country.
The Clowncil for years has been out of touch with it's residents and football supporters.
They were soft on the Oystains and hardly got involved until we got in the premier league.
Just look at all the boarded up shops and cafes around Bond Street, the prom and town centre.
clubs and bars struggling like hell.
They have driven away the fun and party culture.
No breaks on business rates or council tax.
They have had their own agenda. A staged managed decline of the town for the last 20 years to get funding from Westminster.
At least they have done right the Tossers!

Just get on with the compulsory purchases ffs, reducing the capacity of the stadium? For what? Only a 13k arena now guys...? Which wouldn't affect hardly anything.

But things happen at all football grounds and we don't tend to see interventions like this do we?

All seems a load of bollocks.

The behaviour this season has been absolutely fine. It's upto stewards to move people on but all fans can congregate at times.

Can't imagine the council shitting on their own doorstep.

council are responsible for granting safety certificate so everything that is supposed to be in place needs to be. Remember the council can withdraw the safety certificate and close down the stadium. these inspections take place at all venues across the country they will make recommendations if they find anything wrong then return at a later date and if it has not improved then they will take action

Of all the issues facing Blackpool, someone, somewhere, thinks this needs looking into?

Honestly, there are probably 1000 fans in the blocks concerned and they gather together because they are like-minded.

I bet they're hasn't been one complaint from someone in blocks ABCD about people standing in the aisles.

The biggest concern is IF there ever was an emergency, very few people would have a clue because the PA isn't fit for purpose.

It's somewhere between a parady and a tragedy.

When fans in those same blocks start throwing things and chanting things that get the club fines from the FA it likely draws attention to things such as persistent standing… which in turn forces the council and club to act on things they’d rather not have to act upon. Frustratingly and it won’t be for the last time - idiocy from a minority is going to impact other fans and put the club in a difficult situation

Need the stewards to do the jobs they're paid to do too in moving people on.

So if the stand is closed or has a reduced capacity, will the club be giving out refunds for the games to season ticket holders. I'm in Block D and stay where my seat is so why should I be punished?

Edit, I'm not trying to be a dick with this, just wondering if anything was said about it at the meeting.

Have I missed something?.......Does the club give a crap if there are chants about tits and fannies in Lancashire....?

OR...have all those comments about wokeness and the god given right to mention boobs been the usual AVFTT kick off for no reason...???

Anybody know?

Plenty of other seats to move people too, I'm in E, can't just stop people going who've done nowt wrong surely.

Hopefully that would be the case. It's not ideal and hopefully they stay off the aisles, but if not then I wouldn't mind moving for a game or so.

End of the day, it is what it is and from what I've been told some of the things about the clubs attitudes to fans are wide of the mark.

Storm in a teacup springs to mind about several things.

We can slag the council but ultimately, had due diligence been done I the 80s and safety inspections actually happened, then both Bradford and Hillsborough wouldn't have happened or at least been less significant. I think I'm right in saying ground inspection was long overdue, Hillsborough didn't have certificate at all and I think they'd not bothered with Bradford because the stand was due to be pulled down anyway.

Anyway...

I'm not for a second saying there's any similarities here, I'm just saying that in those cases the authorities didn't do their duties and the consequences were horrendous and therefore, it's probably right that bodies like the council actually do follow up on concerns.

If you block entrances/exits then safety regulations are contravened and that requires an action. It's fairly obvious why lots of people standing on steep steps with no barrier to break or stop a fall is not in line with the safety certificate. I think the Ibrox and Burnden disasters were related to stairs/terraces where barriers broke so a fall was unbroken and people were crushed.

We can either be good for a day and not block the aisles or take the punishment.

It's kind of that simple surely?

That was cleared up, nobody said stop singing it. The person who had to be spoken to was because he was filmed on several occasions and the complainant would take it further if he wasn't spoken to.

Is it not more that a charge has been brought and someone somewhere has observed that there's standing in the aisles and at front when that charge has been explored?

I don't know, I'm just guessing but it's easy to see how when examining a complaint, whatever authority would note that other aspects of ground safety rules are being breached.

It's literally visible.

I don't think there has to have been 'a complaint from a Blackpool fan' to explain why this happens.

Whether it's proportional in comparison to other teams is moot. It IS happening and the relevant fans need to comply with a reasonable request from the club in the context of the current framework of ground regs and licencing. (Which the club doesn't control or influence)

The Muckers were getting after the start of Critchley on Twitter the other night creating a poll for peoples opinions to be raised in the meeting?

Any updates on that?

The Muckers seem to be on board with this so maybe something will be done by not just the club, but the fans in that stand as well. They actually seem positive about the meeting which isn't something I thought would happen.

No issues with The Muckers, but they put a poll on Twitter asking if fans were pleased with start of the season and subsequently gave a response only relevant to them.

Hopefully the aisle situation is a simple fix if the muckers get involved and stewards need to do their jobs properly to preven aisles being blocked.

just wondering what your comprehensive post has to do with standing in aisles, which others, including the MSG, have accepted needs sorting.

After yet another dire transfer window and a further ex-coach's mishired return in Critchley, anyone who mentions promotion will have fans rolling in the aisles.
It’s not after the transfer window. We’re still in the transfer window. Aren’t you a superstar journalist paulco ? Get the basics right

Based on the information coming back from tonight's meeting anyone railing against the club is way off line here. It is clear which parts of officialdom the pressures are coming from. Apparently it has already affected numbers that can be accommodated in the East. Needs a collective effort from now on to not give the powers that be the reason or excuse they need to make things difficult for us.

So did anybody actually ask why we have spent virtually nothing in the transfer window and what is the ambition within the club or are we too busy piss arsing about worrying about a lot of hot air. I know it will upset some on here but if you are going to get offended by some distasteful and politically incorrect language then football probably isn’t the ideal game for you to watch live. We have a family stand and a happy clappy nicey nicey west stand if you want to keep your distance and you can ignore what is going on in the naughty north stand. I can assure I have been called a fat bastard a bald bastard and an even an ugly bastard (hard to believe I know) and I am yet to be offended or burst into tears. I guess I’m just a dinosaur thick skinned or just thick but I’m there to watch football and take in the atmosphere. Let’s get 3 or 4 quality signings in either permanent or on loan and all try to play nicely.

To be honest TTP, what you say isn't that hard to believe at all! 😂

This sanitisation of everything we oldies hold dear is a killer. 😣

You ‘hold dear’ behaving like a prick ?? How very sad and pathetic.

There’s previous generations who tried better society yet you’re sad the worlds moving on and society’s getting better. It’s quite an embarrassing take on it all.

I’m sure the newly formed TAFFS (Tits And Fannies Fundamentalist Supporters) will have something to say about this!!!

Maybe they could organise an aisle blocking protest and get their moobs out for the gays?
How come I can walk in the ground and stand up while I drink beer, I can then walk out and stand up at the front for half an hour while watching the teams warm up, I can walk down to the front at half time and stand in the gangway for 15 minutes, I can stand when we score, stand when we get a corner ? Someone needs to tell everyone the rules as to when standing up is allowed and it isn’t allowed and when stand at the front is allowed but isn’t allowed the whole thing when you think about it is an absolute joke.

Assuming there haven't been complaints, someone, somewhere, is worried about a hypothetical potential problem.

Assuming 300 home matches over the last 10 years, how many actual incidents/near misses have there been and been more difficult because people had been standing in the aisles, and that needs comparing with the away fans.

My guess, there have been far more concerns in the away end, than the North.

I need that one explaining to me.
My memory isn't that good.

It’s only a joke though until some kind of disaster happens and people get unnecessarily killed as a result. It can happen and it has happened in the past, so it’s important and necessary to have some rules.

Our Club tends to be pretty relaxed about many of the ‘rules’ that others tend to be more on top about. Reality is that you should never be stood in the hatches areas, never congregate in gangways, always be seated etc..

If the Council are doing an inspection, then I suppose we all need to ‘play the game, to a certain extent. We have it pretty good as things stand and it would be daft to fuck that up.
