Tony Parr

Tony's time should be up - we're a better club than what he dishes up on a weekly basis and the club should invest in someone decent.

Martin Booker is not much better in the lounge. Was up there yesterday and seems to have given himself the role of match day host - stick to doing what your job is mate because there were elements of the lounge yesterday that were a shambles for the money paid,

I believe Phil Trow has been asked back but due to his other commitments is finding it difficult to take the offer up
Martin Booker is spinning plates up there
Needs more help

Yes they used to do it, but not for a while.
Cannot understand why they've stopped it, as it costs nowt.
Always brought a cheer or sigh from the crowd when they read out the results, as we trudge out of the ground.

I think he is ok and not helped by a PA system that needs replacing. It would be good to have a number of guest presenters. Either comedians or through running a Blackpool's got talent type competion?

I seem to remember the Wolves programme had the days fixtures listed A-Z and the half-time scores were put up on the boarding, that was back in the '60s, didn't Bloomfield road do the same? We have an electronic scoreboard that could cover that these days, surely.

Someone like Stuart Hall would be great!
🤣

I still miss Chris Hull Senior (RIP)….THE voice of Bloomfield Road. Parr does absolutely nothing for me although clearly there aren’t any other candidates rushing to challenge for the mic.

Been some good posts on this thread - you’ve gotta ask yourself the question…

Do you want some corporate person with an ego.
Or
Tony who has tangerine blood and loves this club. I don’t know Tony personally but like a lot of others of my age I’ve seen him around since I was in my 20’s and seen him stick up for fellow pool fans just like anyone posting on here.

I know who I want by a country mile - it’s perfect as it is as he’s one of us - don’t forget

I went in corporate for the first time ever on Saturday and thought it was brilliant apart from it stinking of a few too many knobbers who thought it would be good to go in corporate.
Weren’t to happy when the Preston get battered chant went up in corporate

Can’t beat a f@‘k off McMahon comment over the tannoy 😂😂

He is definitely a big fan.

I have to say I was surprised he didn't boycott during the protests though.

I was even hoping that he might have a rant on the microphone and then storm out.

Always something to moan about isn't there.
Question : Why do you think he had lost his voice by the end of the game ?
Too many birthday announcements at half time ?
No, he's a fan, one of us, he was probably chanting " Preston get battered everywhere they go " in between announcing subs.
Ffs who do we want ? Diddy David Hamilton !!!

What I don't understand is why you would announce the crowd numbers and Man of the Match at a time when the whole stadium was bouncing, fans were in full voice and no one could hear a word he said. I still don't know who won Man of the Match.
We have the technology with the big screen - just use that and save our ears.

There were loads of birthday requests on Saturday, disappointed though that he didn’t read out ours for my dad’s 97th birthday on Wednesday..🙄

The analogy of being a ‘top fan’ would mean I get a starting place in the team. What an Earth does that have to do with it? He’s very amateurish and am surprised the club didn’t want a clean broom. It wasn’t like he had to do it under the O’s for a living, yet he chose to do so.

The PA is crap, but yes, I could hear Glenn Kirkham ok when he did it during TP’s sabbatical

I couldn't give a monkeys who does the announcements, I'm surprised so many do.

As for Tony in particular, he can speak english loudly (though hindered by the PA system) down a microphone. That'll do for me.

When Chris Hull retired from the role Clownshoes in his generosity gave him a free ST for a year just in front of us in the South. Great bloke, always made me laugh when it was a freezing winter day. He'd be rubbing his hands with mock glee at the business it would bring him!

As for Tony Parr, he's fine, we just need a slightly less tinpot but not too overbearing tannoys when we can afford it. I can't think of anything worse than us getting one of those Wembley style "come on, let's hear it for the Tangerines" corporate fake atmosphere building wallahs.

I would keep him he's great. I will forgive volunteers working for the Oystons.
Do you know it's interesting how some on here round on a lad who was probably about 15 at the time (Ramos) and Ian Chisnall for being Oyston sympathisers but let's not forget Tony wasn't quick at coming forward throwing his microphone in and joining us boycotting.

Considering the title of this thread I thought I'd drop my two penneth in!
At the Preston match we were trialling a new microphone and antenna system. The new system was able to overcome the problems caused by interference in the stadium, therefore, to the annoyance of some people, I was able to be heard more widely. The microphone had been updated about five years ago but the problem of interference just kept growing. The interference is created by the number of devices in the stadium, which clearly is unavoidable. The clarity of the sound is more to do with the poor quality speakers, which are not likely to be replaced anytime soon.
I hope that's cleared up the technical debate on the issue. As for the personal debate, you know what they say................"you can't please all the people all of the time......................"
