Tony Parr

Considering the title of this thread I thought I'd drop my two penneth in!
At the Preston match we were trialling a new microphone and antenna system. The new system was able to overcome the problems caused by interference in the stadium, therefore, to the annoyance of some people, I was able to be heard more widely. The microphone had been updated about five years ago but the problem of interference just kept growing. The interference is created by the number of devices in the stadium, which clearly is unavoidable. The clarity of the sound is more to do with the poor quality speakers, which are not likely to be replaced anytime soon.
I hope that's cleared up the technical debate on the issue. As for the personal debate, you know what they say................"you can't please all the people all of the time......................"
Can barely hear you in the north....

I've absolutely no problem with you, your microphone or your content on a match day. But, time and again I've mentioned the speakers as a safety hazard. I spent a season on the East and you can't hear the messages. In an emergency those spectators have no chance.
Please feed that back to the complacent high ups.

i may be wrong, but I've a feeling that any Police / Control room emergency announcements use a different feed (whatever) than the normal match day PA and may well be louder / better quality ? seem to remember that from the early days in the new stadium (once had an emergency evacuation at half time onto the pitch when the fire alarms went off !)

Yes, Huddersfield match I was there.

Can we start a crowdfunding page to buy Tony a megaphone for when his Mic drops out :)

Tony is a “top lad” a guy who I have a lot of time and respect for along with the rest of his family who I knew through various years at St.Joes👍👍🚌🧡

The clarity of the sound also has something to do with why you have the nickname of 'shouty'. So many posters refer to the time some guy from Man Utd took the mic and we could hear him 100% perfect. Same mic, same speakers at the time. Strange how he got them to work perfectly. Suppose it's the same with my golf clubs.... Rory would no doubt have no problems with them but I'll be damned if I can get them to work properly :)

Do you know it's interesting how some on here round on a lad who was probably about 15 at the time (Ramos) and Ian Chisnall for being Oyston sympathisers but let's not forget Tony wasn't quick at coming forward throwing his microphone in and joining us boycotting.
I don't remember Tony actively backing the Oystons, nor Ramos tbf, but Chizzy did.

Anyway. Time to move on. Its done. If Mandela can forgive white South Africa for jailing him for 27 years, I can get over comments made 6 years ago.

When Chris Hull retired from the role Clownshoes in his generosity gave him a free ST for a year just in front of us in the South. Great bloke, always made me laugh when it was a freezing winter day. He'd be rubbing his hands with mock glee at the business it would bring him!

As for Tony Parr, he's fine, we just need a slightly less tinpot but not too overbearing tannoys when we can afford it. I can't think of anything worse than us getting one of those Wembley style "come on, let's hear it for the Tangerines" corporate fake atmosphere building wallahs.

"Tannoy is a brand name"

He did actually make a half time guest appearance a few years ago ....can't remember what that was all about.
He presented I think the golden gamble prize to a young lady on the side of the pitch. He then proceeded to chant 'get your tits out for the lads'
🤭😁

I go to watch the football

As long as he gets the information and the announcements out what’s the problem?

Anybody else notice that Tony Parr seemed to have lost his voice when he tried to make announcements towards the end of the
Tony's time should be up - we're a better club than what he dishes up on a weekly basis and the club should invest in someone decent.
i remember Anthony being quite tasty at school Wes “ fight, fight, fight…….” 🤨 It’s not an easy job and as others have said, we can go pro and pay a speaker or let one of our own do his best. i don’t come for the half time entertainment.

We don't need an announcer; TP or anyone else.

Let the screen take the strain; and allow the crowd to do the rest.

I love the fact we don't have 'goal music' I'd do away with walkout music (unless obliged but the competition) too; less is more - much more.

Thank you

I'll always respect Tony for his pre-match speech before the Cardiff playoff final, the Welsh bloke was banging on about the bloody valleys, Tony kept it very personal and even managed a dig at the nobbers.
That was where he used the famous line "A message to William Hill - stick to horse racing lads because you know nowt about football" (in reference to making us favourites for relegation)

The lack of goal music is easily the best improvement made to match days.

Just watching from abroad today -Tony Parr just introduced the teams, heard nothing and he wanders off looking at his microphone - does he know how to switch it on 🙄

Can't understand a word he says.

It's either his diction, or a poor microphone, or a lousy sound system.

Probably all three
