I know we’ve done this before, and even before that, but it’s a kind of tribute to Ray Liotta really and my own curiosity to see how popular Goodfellas really was.
I only discussed this with a pal today before the sad news and I have a solid 3 that aren’t challenged by others.

So top 3 films ?

1) Whistle Down the Wind

2) Goodfellas

3) Shutter Island

All masterpieces in their own right in my opinion.

You ?

Went The Day Well ? (1942)- English villagers fight back against German soldiers disguised as British troops
Village Of The Damned ( 1960) - evil blonde children terrorise the locals
Downfall( 2004) - Hitler losing it and the war in the bunker

Another category, for me that will change in the next half hour, but for now -

Streets of Fire (corny, but mint)
Zulu
Fried Green Tomatos

The Power of One
Land and Freedom
The Wave
The Baader Meinhof Complex…..

Told ya!

Sorry for cheating
😁

You might be the first person I've ever met who rates Shutter Island. I really enjoyed the book until about 3/4 of the way through there was an anagram that hid the big twist. My eye saw it instantly and it ruined the rest of it.

The film is far from a masterpiece, but an entertaining thriller for sure.

1. Eyes Wide Shut
2. Alien
3. Mulholland Drive

No.2 was scary to say the least….I was 9 if 1960 is right at the time so probably only saw it much later. Quatermass on the TV was definitely scary….still would avoid watching both even now.

Never seen either 2 or 3 .In fact never heard of 3 😳 nor Ray Liotta for that matter😳

post edit….just googled him says he was best known for playing in physcopathic thrillers which might explain why I hadn’t as they are definitely NOT my kind of entertainment.

Very difficult to choose 3

but these in one way or another had some kind of impact when I first watched them and in no particular order.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
You only live twice. ( and still my favourite Bond theme tune ,though Skyfall the film and song run it very close).
Guns of Navarone.

Close Encounters, another great choice.

I wish you'd take some threads seriously Blood, your reply was taking the mick, everyone knows 'Chicken Choker 2 - Pullet Off' is the superior film.
It’s not a patch on the football documentary mate about Blondie and their obsession with the Eagles …..”Debbie does Crystal Palace“
