Tories at 18%

Lord help us!
Heads off the threat to the Tories from Reform. This explains the reasoning.

Despite the final paragraph BJ’s fingerprints are all over this latest “wheeze”.

At 18 per cent I think Sunak will be under heavy pressure to walk.

I think that’s the point.

I’m not sure whether the 18% figure is genuine but it’s interesting that it’s being pushed by the McAlpine’s - BJ supporters.

While BJ pretends to know nothing about any plots. Hedging his bets as per usual in case he decides he doesn’t want to risk a GE/Referendum as leader after all. Better to let Sunak take all the blame and rebuild in opposition.

You’ve got to love the Tories and their scheming.

"You've got to love the Tories and their scheming"

It's beyond parody

Probably a bit of a rogue poll, but Ipsos show them at 20 % from the 7th of March. Poll of polls is at 24 %, so no wonder there is scheming I suppose.

If the election is not until the end of January they will probably have time for another two or three PM’s!

You have to admit, when you are sat waiting for the ambulance and 3 hours have passed; your house is freezing cold and your one remaining tooth that you haven’t had to yank out is rattling after 4 years of no NHS dentist.
You’re working two jobs on minimum wage and still paying more tax than the CEO of most major corporates - the one thing that really boils your piss, is “why are we still part of the European Human Rights control…..”

Geneva Convention is unnecessary too.

Let’s start gassing area of poverty and allow private doctors to earn decent money experimenting new drugs on the country’s scum. Saves years of guesswork and mice murder.

The UK signed the European Convention on Human Rights in 1951, which was set up in the aftermath of WW2.
A key advocate, indeed the main proponent, in the UK was Sir Winston Churchill.

It's way beyond parody that RW Tories want to dismantle his most significant post-war achievement. They have abandoned their own history.

Scott Benton is a big proponent. Enough said.

No one gave a fuck about being part of the European Union until this bunch of fuckwits made it the number one priority while everything else went to shit. Johnson took all the glory for sticking a temporary plaster over something he broke. You couldn't make these pricks up.

All Tories need kicking in the balls, it should be law, see a Tory, kick them in the ** balls, little Englander dickheads.

You sexist pig...😉

IMO the further they go to the right the less popular they will be.
Next leader could be less popular than 18% if it is Badenoch or Braverman. Badenoch has recently been exposed as someone who will brazenly lie when expedient (PO scandal). Braverman is someone who doesn't have any boundaries and will say almost anything to incite hatred and division if it is politically expedient.
The ECHR is a bit like Brexit, friends in the press start to manufacture anger about something that is generally a good thing. Some Tory MPs join in with the frothing. Before you know it they are demanding a referendum for something that is not a big issue for the majority. In the meantime they carry on mismanaging and selling parts of the public estate.
Will the British people be fooled again? I doubt it.
We are in the death throes of this administration. This is absolutely straw clutching. There is no longer a 'go to' issue that the Tories can use to tame people. At the end of the day most of us want to live in peace with their neighbors with public services that we can rely on when needed. And the government have failed very badly on both counts. The end is nigh for this government. Accept your fate, call an election for the sake of the country. And then fuck off.

After 14 years of rule, the Tories and their supporters are running out of other people to blame. It used to be the EU but it can't be them anymore, so now it's the ECHR. Yes it must be that. It can't possibly be our policies.

Their desperation is increasing by the day. Yet another PM? A vote on the ECHR? They've even started wheeling out Michael Howard - I mean who on earth in the Tory party thinks that he's a vote winner? The fact is the Tory party are finding it impossible to budge the polls because they have no idea what people want. They want to know that in exchange for the highest tax burden in years, they'll be able to see a doctor when they're actually ill and not three weeks later. They want to be able to find a dentist and one that doesn't charge the earth for a two minute check up. They don't want energy companies racking up billions in profit when bills are through the roof needlessly. They want roads that can be driven on without disappearing down a cavernous pothole every two minutes.
The reason why they have no idea that people want these things is because their MPs and members are completely out of touch with what life is like for normal people outside of the southeast. The ECHR thing may appeal to their membership, but not the majority of floating voters who I bet mostly couldn't give a shit.

I think the Liz Truss debacle was the final straw for many. The fact that the Tory membership put her into number 10 purely out of spite against Sunak for stabbing their darling BJ in the back, rather than putting the interests of the country first, tells you all you need to know about them. They voted her in knowing full well she was completely out of her depth, and they're now seeing the results of their bitterness.

The Liz Truss catastrophe is the most recent version of John Major’s European Exchange Rate Mechanism disaster of Black Wednesday in 1992, when the UK lost billions backing the £ against hedge fund wagers and interest rates hit 15%. But that only cost the country about £3 billion.

The voters had that Major and Lamont ineptitude constantly in mind for the next 5 years leading to Labour’s victory in the 1997 GE.

It’s been less than 18 months since the 46-day Truss premiership. Truss and Kwarteng cost the country over 10 times more than Major. Mortgage payers still feel the pain of that and there will be plenty of Lettuce adverts to remind us, if we needed it.
