Full list of signings this summer as Gibbs-White deal takes spending to £150m
Life in the Premier League never ceases to amaze me.

They go down they go bust, or in serious trouble that's for sure.. one hell of a gamble imho....

An eye watering amount of money.
But if you're a Florist supporter you'll be delighted at the commitment of the club to stay in the PL .....unlike the paltry amount of cash the scum spent on our squad & yet we almost survived (shitty red Mancs).

What about wages?? They are taking one hell of a chance mate
Not really they are just spending the Sky millions for getting promoted

Mutch better than what clubs like Norwich do and just take the cash knowing they will go down

Promotion to the Premier lg is worth about 200 million to a club like Forest and even if they only just stay up they will be getting another 80 million or something

Its good they are having a go

I think too many of our fans still have the illness Oystonisms that appears to stick around for years

I know what your saying, and can't dispute the ambition. Time will tell.

It's a short term view for a team that hasn't been in the Prem for a long time.

It's a gamble. Not just with the Sky millions, but all income to follow.

Put all the chips all on red.

Is it good business sense? Only time will tell.

Would I have wanted us to have done this? With hindsight yes, for the obvious reasons.

Would I want us to do this if we went up in the future? Depends on the deals. Agents and players will bleed Forest dry. I'd prefer a more balanced approach.

Good luck to them.

I don't think teams can spend their way to lower mid table in the PL, survival requires more than that, actual team play for instance. I thought Forest would do ok in the PL this year even with the squad they had plus one of two astute bits of strengthening, but they seem like many to be trying to buy continued PL survival, wouldn't be surprised if it backfires, undermines team unity, waiting for new players to bed in etc. struggling in Feb, sack a very good manager and so on

I disagree

They have bought well, the two Huddersfield players were quality last season and deserve the step up

They are also buying potential with players like Gibbs White and the stiker they signed

They have kept their best player in Johnson and have signed a brilliant keeper on loan and some experience in Lingard

Cooper is a very astute manager and i actually think they will do well

Good luck to them

I think as they were heavily reliant on loans last year they had a lot of Prem capable players they needed to buy, which probably accounts for the high spend.

Cooper did a brilliant job last season, instant transformation. They used the loan market to turn their team into promotion contenders and needed to completely rebuild their squad. Phil's right in that tinkering would not have given them a hope of staying up. They dont want to be Norwich or Fulham. Just feels extreme. Clubs have got in a mess this way so I think there needs to be some regulation. Capitalism goes wrong. Look at the state of the world.

It could well backfire spectacularly.
I'm assuming all these big money signings are expecting to be playing every week so its a complete rebuild.
When we got to the promised land our squad only needed a relatively modest tweek.
If we had just added Varney, Dobbie and Angel Rangel we would have stayed up with ease.

It could go either way. Their team last season was heavily dependent on loans so there was always going to be upheaval.

17 new faces is a lot though. With all those new faces you'd think they might have got Cooper one.

Good luck to them. Could backfire, probably won’t.

If anyone thinks Blackpool FC would do something like this they need to give their head a wobble.

Forest have a quality manager. Cooper helped England u17s to become world cup winners, thrashing Spain in the final and was able to integrate the talents of such players as Foden and Sancho into an exciting attack minded side. Took Swansea to a championship play off final in a relatively short period. Promoted to premier league in first season with Forest and in my opinion were the best , most exciting side to visit Bloomfield road. It is big risk to spend so much but if anybody can make Forest a long term successful side premier league side surely Cooper is worth a punt. They have certainly put their faith in him. I suspect he will be capable of managing bigger clubs than Forest.

Great news for premium sports car dealers, watch salesmen, nightclub owners and escort agencies. These people would surely have struggled with us all cutting back.

Can see Forest doing well this year.

Wanted NF to get promoted but think they have gone too far, players that got them promoted pushed aside (they weren’t all loans), can only think this is reckless. Wouldn’t mind now if they get relegated to see how many of these players stick with them and how they afford it. FFP has not gone away 🤔

They still have the spine from last season

2 of the back 3 are still playing for a start and its certainly not reckless spending the Sky Money, its what its for

What i find as totally insane is football fans criticism of clubs spending money on better players

Its ** weird

Why the fcuk do Sky give promoted teams so much money? I'm relatively confident that its to improve their squads so they can compete at a higher level

The Sky money has a limit, this is over£150 million (so far) on just buying new players, forget wages of all the players and support staff and running costs ( they are not immune to rising costs of just about every commodity) sorry no this is just the sort of reckless attitude to money that is ruining the game. Spend good money Yes, but £150 million on just transfer deals alone for a newly promoted side without the global appeal, sorry NO. I understand is it next year FFP rules tighten up on spending and wages, if so cannot see them meeting the new levels of spend allowed. Cannot have any sympathy if it goes wrong.

Forest may be able to take a gamble like this because they have a fan base 3 times ours . If it fails then the owner took a chance with his sky money and lost it . If Blackpool did something as mad as this then it could really cripple us for years . We get relegated from the Prem and you halved the gates straight away . All the money spent on the gamble means not even mediocre players can be afforded to come in . Possibly relegated again ,gates go down even further etc. We have been without investment with the Oyscum ,so we should know what its like. Bolton and Derby are finding out now and both get larger support then us in recent years. Hope Forest go down with their knob of an owner and their up themselves fans.

I’ve no real care whether anyone spends loads. If they overspend and can’t afford it. Just make sure the punishment is harsh.

Personally, I don’t think you get anything like value for money, so if you’re given £150m, you’re as well spending £50m than £100m because the difference in player quality is minimal.

Find myself agreeing with contrasting sentiments on here.
Chatting to a Forest fan yesterday.
He admits it's a gamble, but believes, by staying up, the return next year on their investment will more than compensate for their outlay this.
He's just hoping there will be at least three teams below Forest come the end of the campaign
Made me think, wistfully, of us in 2011.
Overall, for me, it's comforting to know that another club is prepared to emulate the actions of our former owner, whose Premiership windfall was ploughed back into the club to ensure our continued success..............

It’s a lot of cash no doubt, but once in the PL you have to give it a go. It’s like any business looking to improve, you’ve got to invest. The bonus, as has been said, is the TV money, which essentially funds the investment.

The obvious risk is going down first season and not being able to bounce back quickly, as the contracts kill clubs.

The half-hearted approach rarely works, so it’s good they are clear in their strategy.

They have in their favour a very good and level headed manager.

You are a wildly misinformed individual.

Mutch ffs. Who the fuck spells like that?!
