Training Ground - East Stand & Next Manager

I’ve worked for two very good Female Senior Managers. They both had my full respect, admiration and loyalty. There is no reason (certainly nothing insurmountable) why a female coach couldn’t coach a male football team and be a successful as any man. I’m absolutely sure it will happen

The issue is I suppose what is the gateway? How is the leap made from managing a women’s team (at a much lower standard than the male game due to many reasons) to managing at a much much higher level. How is the leap made from the competitive but much less confrontational female game to the male game filled with testosterone and aggression etc etc?

That’s precisely it Blood…

It’s likely At sone point that we might see a non-league club give an opportunity or perhaps even a lower level league club … perhaps we might see female coaches working with make teams .. Who knows?

I’m just not sure that for us, right now, it’s a risk that you’d want to take… Because with no precedent it really is a complete shot in the dark.

Emma Hayes shut the door pretty quickly on Wimbledon when they were interested in her and as far as I know has never shown any desire to manage in the men's game.

Well, this is my first post on here for nearly 12 months. Spent most of the period from March to end November last year in hospital for treatment for leukaemia and collapse of my kidney functions. Following some gruelling chemotherapy and fighting some nasty infections, my cancer is in remission and kidneys recovered. Lost a lot of weight in the process, which isn't a bad thing, but I wouldn't recommend this form of dieting!
Of course, I had to give up my season ticket, but that is not a bad thing with the season we have had. One thing I have really learnt is that family and friends are more important than anything else.
Whilst still recovering I feel strong enough to re-enter the Avftt world.
A few things on this thread.
The first thing we need to get right is our leadership at the club. The Board really needs to get to grips with the decision making around managers (having been found wanting on the last 2 appointments). They also need to have a decent summer of recruiting players - get most of them in early and provide some decent, but sensible, investment to get the right players. A mix of experience and youth and some players with more physicality and less prone to injury. We need an attack minded manager, because the best Pool sides have goals in them and you need them for promotion. Exciting football and success on the pitch will keep the fans coming. We also need leadership on the pitch. When I have seen the Pool on the box this season, the two things that stood out were a lack of leadership on the pitch and lack of quality for the championship. Focus on leadership and quality in players we recruit for the central spine of the team - goalkeeper, centre back, central midfield and centre forward. We need some fighters in the side. Too many players go awol.
I think the East stand will happen over the next couple of years, as the grant funding will be tied to the Council Revoe development and it will certainly improve that side of the ground. The training ground has always been a medium term project. It sounds that it needs resizing because of increase in costs, but it would be good if they made a start in the next couple of years and allowed a design to scale it up, as required.
I have also always believed that Sadler needs other shareholders or investment partners to provide enough resources for us to develop further.
Bloody hell Pete, that sounds horrendous, really pleased to hear you are on the road to recovery and getting better and stronger every day, it must have been a really worrying time so welcome back, you must be feeling better if you're ready for this madhouse again!!

Leadership on the pitch really has been missing all season as has a good defensive midfielder (2 years we have been missing that) but we don't have any leadership off the pitch either. I'm actually quite optimistic hearing that Sadler has hit the roof with Mansford & Gerrity this week, maybe he will do the difficult thing and find people who will actually do what he wanted these two to do so he can take a back seat, it's a shame it's taken him so long.

Good post that, agree about the East Stand and training ground and if Sadler is going to stay a partner or investor would be a really good thing.

The 2nd phase is yet to be submitted, If they try to offer something on the lines of Poolfoot (not as big), Ive visited Poolfoot many times with my grandson. I realise there isnt the space to compare with Fleetwood, but it would still be an asset for the club and in my view should not be missed.
Doesn't seem to be in the current plans though, although, there should still be some slots available outside of the kids, community trust and girls team usage.

I guess we'll have to see.

It would make sense to include commercial revenue where possible so not sure why it's not happening.

The latest plans were this I believe.

There could then potentially be some provision for the 5v5 pitches to be used commercially in some way, but no mention of it.

An older mock up shows them using the full site, with far more scope for potential commercial use.

Sheff Wed, Barnsley, Bolton, Derby, Port Vale would all bring more than 2200 as would Carlisle, Stockport and Bradford if they were promoted. We'll still sell 7000 ST's imo
Depends on the push too. Let's say Dobbie does well and improves us but not quite enough to stay up, but people are confident in his ability and he's given the role full time.

We price it cheaper and appeal to pool fans, old, new lapsed etc, market it and make a few good signings, create a buzz.

There's absolutely no reason we can't sell a similar ish amount, even if a bit less. But if we got off to a good start and we're up near the top of the table, but with fans in attendance this time that we were forced to miss last time with covid, with a reasonable matchday price too, even if people didn't jump in with a ST they'd sure turn up if we kept winning.

I think we can benefit from being in the championship and if we go down, were a bit bigger than when we came up, especially if we get a few key things right, manager, price and also if we do well.

Yes, it was a tough last year for both me and my family. The original cancer treatments contained an arsenic extract, which attacked my kidneys. It was going ok for 3 weeks until my legs, feet, arms and hands started filling up with excess fluid. The fluid also went on my lungs and I could hardly breath so went into intensive care on high volume oxygen and they drained my lungs and put me on a dialysis machine. At that stage the renal consultant told me my kidneys were operating at just 9% of their full capacity. I thought I was going to die that night! But I survived that and following a long struggle have gone from having over 30 tablets and 2 or 3 blood or antibiotic transfusions a day to just 4 daily tablets at home. They monitor my bloods every couple of months and I have gradually been rebuilding the muscle mass in my legs and arms, which was one of the impacts of losing 8 stone in weight! Life is feeling much better at the moment, with a 15 month old granddaughter to dote on and 2 of my children getting married this year. Every day is a bonus now.
And back to your post, I am glad if SS has bollocked Mansford and Garrity - I have not been impressed with either of them when they have spoken in public and they appear to be part of the leadership problem. Hopefully, I will be able to get across from Lincoln to a match at BR again, and I always have the option next season of seeing them at Lincoln and Peterborough!

There’s more than enough space up at the Garstang Rd location.

Just to end the conversation, Emma Hayes has previously said, that she would see an EFL post as a step down from her current position. She wouldn't be interested.

It just seems madness to me not to offer as much as possible on this land, if its going to be a Sports Village then the interaction of the club with
the Academy, Players etc is a golden opportunity to create more interest in the product ! We know its not going to be Premier League but the club have a poor set-up as it is and the TG is how many years away ?

So we're saying Cherie Lunghi was a one off?

Put them on hold and invest in the squad. None of this helps in the short term future ... having a successful product on the pitch brings in the money to help fund all this. In terms of our next managerial appointment! That answer could come from within perhaps? All dependant on how Dobbie does and of course if he wanted the job?

I have no ill feelings towards Critchley personally, but that reappointment would end in disaster for me. Reading a post about Emma Hayes the Chelsea womens head coach being an option.. don't even consider this BFC.

We now have to be big, bold and brave for the future, but I don't have the belief or the faith in this board or owner to make this happen...to be honest I don't think they have the vision or capability to achieve it?

Cue the critics

Go 👍😉

Don’t know how many times these needs saying but the east stand needs to go ahead because the current one is not fit for purpose and will soon be condemned ffs

What an incredible triumph over adversity! 🧡

Do we need it in league 1?
Not really the point it will have to be shut as it wont get it's safety certificate and the only reason it's has had a stay of execution is on the proviso we build a new one.
So back to a three sided ground and IF we get promoted back to the Championship your stuffed again.

Needs building same as training ground,we can go around in circles with this debate but Sadler at the start said he wasn't prepared to put the club in debt like a Derby he quoted just for players and that's what these infrastructure plans are debt on our books.

Well done fella, all the best with your recovery.A couple of years ago I had a cardiac arrest and was clinically dead for over 20 minutes, but my wife saved me with CPR and a triple heart bypass sorted me out. So like you there is light at the end of the tunnel and I totally agree that Family is incredibly important.

Keep positive and take care.
