Training Ground Permission

Announcements happen when they happen, there's a process it's going through that's out of the clubs control, plus they haven't announced anything have they?


There was that yesterday.

The op seems to saying it like in summer, where an announcement might be timed to coincide with ST sales and the summer window, but about Jan.

But there's no real gain here as we're not in some early bird ST window and people aren't going to rush down and buy something if we get an update on a planning application.

We already have plans, artists impressions we could show them at any time, so that doesn't make sense.
 
Its infuriating when you read from environmental agencies comments and reports that yes, the plans will remove some trees / a pond / some hedges.. but will be replacing it with an overall net gain of green spaces. - Still objects because dog walker.

There is moaning about traffic increases. Fine, but it's not going to be 100's of cars coming and going all day. This seems to have led to discussions on changes to the plan to move the entrance onto Garstang Road instead. - additional cost etc...

Moaning about light and noise into the evening.. Most footballers won't want to be there in the evening, I imagine it'll be somewhat quiet by that time, or at least using the indoor pitch / Far end Pitches.

Please ask for my reasoning before speculating.

I’m saying our training plan announcements ALWAYS coincide with the start of a transfer window. Or, just after one to alleviate any pressuring questions regarding spending on players.

You think a gazette update not saying anything really is some plan by the club to sell something or keep people on board?

But it doesn't work the same as it being announced in the summer when ST's are on sale.

In many ways you can understand trying to build up a feelgood if that was happening. But we've already got all the info, that article is an update on the ongoing planning.

That won't sell anything or alleviate any pressuring questions.

Let's imagine Rhodes goes back and there's no replacement. Difficult questions aren't going to be lessened because some fans have learned about the number of objections to a planning application.

It’s released so that they have a “well, the training ground” excuse. They’ve done it around every window for the past 2 seasons.

If it’s not planned, it’s some reoccurring coincidence.

I just believe it’s coincidental timing and JJ decided to inform me that it isn’t, just like the last 3 announcements weren’t.

Tbh I think you’re looking for things that aren’t there with this one.

If Sadler wants to invest in January he will. If he doesn’t he won’t. I don’t think he’s working meticulously with the Blackpool Gazette to excuse lack of spending before the window is even open.

He didn’t invest nearly enough in the playing squad over summer imo so I hope we see some good business in January. I dont think these announcements are anything more than updates on the training ground though.

Just my opinion.

But there's nothing happening yet is there? Is the article even triggered by the club or just the gazette filling pages...

I'd say our inconsistent league form and us falling further behind the playoff pack is far more relevant and on people's minds.

No one is going to be distracted from that or a potential transfer window failure by this non update.

The approval of the plans timing would be out of bfc hands, but that would be a good update and so then would a 'building is starting' announcement. But this isn't that.

So if the club or the gazette can't, without suspicion, announce or even give an update on the TG before or after a transfer window, then they only really have half of the year and things can easily naturally happen at any time.
 
My understanding is that the Training Ground is progressing as quickly as it is legally and logistically possible to do so. Likewise the East Stand is progressing behind the scenes. Neither scheme has any impact on the timescales of the other - but the East does need to be completed in time for the start of 2026-7 season. And neither scheme is so imminently close that it would have any significant impact on transfer activity.

The objections on environmental grounds are ludicrous and one is pure NIMBY ranting on about too many new house in Poulton - last time i looked 10 pitches aren't houses!

Which is why I think they have brought it up. Should have had some update, but nothing has been published, and the expiration of the application is in Feb.
This is Wyre Council, not Blackpool.
 
Those planning documents, including the consultation feedback, were from last summer. I remember reading them at the time. Why hasn't it been determined by now?
 
Cant see the swamp of Dinmore traing ground happening anytime soon if ever. Looks like tangerine backed newts have been found, the rareist of all newts. Maybe Sadler and co needed to do a bit more research on suitable land and not the cheapest available.

Why are people making out like I’ve said the training ground needs to happen immediately?

I’m saying Sadler has drip fed another bullshit story to the Gazette just in time for the transfer window so that he doesn’t have to spend a bean.
 
Only time we ever hear about it - Season ticket renewal time, half season-ticket renewal time and when they want everyone spending money in the club shop at Christmas. Been the same cycle for years now.

We are being strung along more than the Oystons did to us.

Listen, ItsDimUpNorth, why don't you get someone to explain the club accounts to you and then you'll see how much Sadler is spending.

Should we and he be getting more for his money? Arguably, yes buy you can't fault him and the club for trying.

BJ, you must think our fans are very gullible if you think an article on planning permission gets us buying tickets and merchandise.

Funny, as they have done a full assessment of the trees, and it all seems fine.

We've even included a massive pond, just in case we got back in for a certain someone.
Wyre just dragging their feet I wonder.

This is why things take so long. The amount of bullshit objections to things that will improve the town is mental. I'm not just talking about this, but other planning things that have taken years to get through planning or haven't got through at all because of a bunch of sad people that don't have anything better to do than complain about everything. Another case is derelict hotels, there's been a few that have been denied planning permission to be knocked down and turned into sea front apartments because of objections. Hacketts that burnt down went through this and sat derelict/a drug den for years before finally burning down. The exact same thing with the Ambassador as well. It's a complete joke. Sorry for the rant, just annoys me that people who actually want to improve areas of the town can't because of busy bodies with nothing better to do.
 
Blackpool planning is slow, Wyre planning is down right horrendous. We had to apply twice for the extention on our house with Wyre as they nit pick everything. If the smallest thing isn't exactly right, then you have to start the whole process again. McDonald's had to go above their head to get planning permission as well. Wouldn't surprise me if we're still waiting this tike next year.

As for the Gazette story, I would say that's just a page filler or even click bait. Got to keep us buying their paper or paying for the online subscription.

The club haven't said anything new have they? The gazette has put this out for clicks. Even if the club had promted the update, so what. It's not like the non news changes anything or anyone's thinking on anything.

There's been covid and a cost of living and the costs have gone up massively. It's needed to become the club we want to be, but squires gate has seen significant improvement and investment, so is OK for now, until the costs are more acceptable. Tbh they should build it in stages and add to it. But by the time the planning is possibly accepted maybe it'll happen, as inflation is coming down.

It's also a process and is awaiting approval, it's out of their hands and oit of their hands when the news drops, as the gazette do regular articles on planning updates all the time.

It's not like there's any progress announced to get excited about either, it's just a gazette update to say...still waiting, no news.

Not sure who's going to rush and buy something based on that or who wouldn't ask a probing relevant question because of this wonderfully exciting non news.
