Training ground

Heard on Tuesday that the proposed land off Garstang Rd has been leased back to whoever was using it prior to the club purchasing it. Apparently current users were given a deadline to be off and then last minute were offered a 2 year deal to remain.

Long before my time but didn’t that site off of Garstang Road used to be another school ? If so there likely wouldn’t be too much difficulty in the club getting permission to build an access road to the site if one previously existed.

That being said I noticed in the articles and announcements that they used the words ‘initially’ when reporting the facilities the TG would have - that to me suggests they’re leaving scope to extend and further develop the site down the line with additional pitches / facilities if and when needed. That would also explain a large swathe of undeveloped land to the Garstang Road side of the site and not planning to put an access road through that part of the site too.

I’d also consider it a clever move potentially as if that bit of the site previously was a school would it not be easier to get permission to build something that perhaps isn’t just a football pitch if the plot of land could be classed as ‘brownfield’ and not part of the greenbelt / open land between authorities (which is only really appropriate for development in the form of pitches)
It was a school. St Toms and west, St Katherine's. The buildings I think have all been built on and it's the playing fields + locally owned wooded type areas where the new TG is going.

If anyone has sway over the contractors can you get them to look out for a silver Roman coin dated C150AD? And return it to me. Thanks.

Not aware of a previous school there. Bit irrelevant though, because they would still need new access permission if there isn’t a suitable exit onto Garstang Rd. Road safety would be the top concern, but developers get around that all the time with say, a new mini roundabout. That section of road has had its speed reduced significantly and there’s a large housing development going up across the road. It could & should be in the main application, but can be dealt with separately. Think they bought the extra land as a contingency, e.g. there’s the public right of way to consider.
At the open consultation they said it was all being done with a minimal impact on the environment. Got the impression it wasn’t particularly future proofed for say, access to public like Poolfoot or other pitches.
Imo the re-wilding area would be ideal for say, a running track.

Kind of makes sense for some of the unused parts of the land, depending on how it fits with the whole TG being done within 3 years.

Any furniture in front gardens on view? Looking for a not too badly stained or sagging 1970's style sofa.
Funnily enough i walked through grange park earlier, all along Dinmore, only spotted one front garden full of crap but sadly no sagging 70s sofa ☹️

I'm surprised you weren't set upon by a gang of youths and set alight, then put out, bundled into one of the hundreds of boarded up properties and left there.

Why these properties don't show at all on Google maps for eg is a mystery, I presume the Grange park mafia have Google in their pockets and are making them give off the image of a an average estate, when we know the reality is far darker.
