Travel to Boro

Hi gang. I’m looking at coming home for a week before I move to Canada and I’m dying to get a game in, on the dates work are giving me off though there’s just the away trip to Boro. Is anybody planning to do that away day and could offer some advice on traveling there and back for a day trip? I’d prefer to take a coach or something just so I’m not spending too much of my precious time on the golden coast in the north east wilderness!

If you drive, park at the railway station - I don't know current prices but they used to be dead cheap. Then, have a couple in the Spoons close by. Then, just follow everyone to the ground. I've never had a problem with Boro' fans.

I’m wondering what the coach situation is though? Rail’s far too expensive for me unfortunately, but I can’t see anything about club coaches on the official site

Travelling the other way for a few decades, the train is crap unless the timetable allows for connection at York. By car about 2.5 hours max. Train minimum of 5 hours.

£1 all day at the rail station car park. Best pub nearby is the Zetland, opposite the main entrance to the station. great landlord, beer and food and the Boro crowd in there are good. Back room is beautiful, tiled, step back in time. The Spoons is OK, no bother but it's full of alcoholics.

Some good micro bars on Baker and Bedford Street.

Alf, Nick Salthouse and Nick Freshney are running a coach from The Highfield Social Club on Highfield Rd South Shore.
You can contact them both through Facebook messenger.

2010 the last time I was there. 3-0 to the Pool. The Spoons was the only proper ale around the station at that time.
2010? We didn’t play at Middlesbrough in 2010. I wish people would gets facts right before posting ☹️

Horrible place. Riverside has been much more accommodating tbf.

Since they moved there we've won one, lost one and drawn three.

The win was when we were singing "Cry on the telly, we saw you cry on the telly" to that ex Nobber.
Great night that was Wizz......didn`t it screw up his transfer?

I normally roley-poley all the way there, trains and coaches are too expensive and I don't want to wear my shoes out.

Ah ...Ayresome Park...my one and only ever visit to see us play them.
Feb 1974 with my then girlfriend and a friend with his girlfriend.

Absolutely awful boring 0 0 ...abiding memory was the incredible yellow glow ( not the sun) of the sulphur from all the chemical works around the town.Almost felt sorry for the locals except they were far from a friendly bunch.
Never ceases to amaze me that said girlfriend didn’t ditch me but instead went on to marry me in 1975 and we are still together now.
Needless to say she didn’t feel inclined to watch again though she has attended all the “ finals“ at Cardiff and Wembley” since 2000 other than the Lincoln one for obvious reasons( I did😀) and she actually enjoyed those as we won all of them except Wet Spam which she was probably glad we escaped from without being set upon by their ( still) scum fans
