If we’re to believe all the doom mongers on here then surely he’s had it ? Age bracket (74), obese, poor diet, no excercise.

90 times more likely to die than an 18-29 year old.
5 times more likely to be hospitalised.
None of that means he will as it doesn't kill 100% of people in that category so I'm not sure why you're using this to have a dig at those who take this virus seriously. Pretty poor taste really.

Hope he gets through this without any serious issues, no matter what you think of him, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Watch this space though, if he does sail through it, he’s going to tell the world he’s superman.

I expect him to succomb and be resurrected on the third day.

I think that’s one of the reasons behind the scepticism Mates, especially given he’s been behind in the polls for some months now and they don’t show any sign of moving.

If it is Fake News:

He can avoid any further car crash debates.

At a time of national crisis the US tends to rally around the President.

In three weeks time he could, as you say, pop up and claim to be Super Prez.

Failing all else he could use it as an argument to call for a delay in the election. And if the Democrats don’t agree, then argue it wasn’t a fair election and should be settled by the Supreme Court. Once his new nominee has been appointed.

Call me cynical but I can bet you the first reaction of Joe Biden and every world leader when they heard the news would have been “is it true?”. Which is shocking really.

So much for the anti-malaria drug that keeps Covid at bay. Odd isn't it, how the first thought of nearly everyone is what's the line?

Refusal to wear a mask, constantly surrounded by people, mass rallies in front of people who don't believe the virus exists. It's not a real surprise, but you can't help thinking it's a ploy to delay or change the election result.

Okay - so he hasn't got it then.

Obviously just using it as an excuse to avoid the debates and hopefully get a sympathetic bounce in the polls.
indeed. Or call for a delay in the election.

I imagine at some point he’ll be asked to undergo independent and verifiable tests.

It’d be a bit risky for Joe Biden to do that so I wonder who the lucky person will be?

A WH spokesman has said 'the President will be confined to his room with only access to Twitter and Fox news, with bargain buckets being supplied hourly. There will be no effect to the President's normal duties and routines.'

My money would be on this being a ruse for any or all of the following reasons:

1. to solicit sympathy votes
2. to delay the election
3. to get out of the next two debates
4. to enable him to stand down if he loses but before Biden takes office in January. Pence duly takes over for a couple of months and promptly pardons him… preventing him from facing criminal prosecution.

#4...

I did think that 4. might have some validity behind it, but with him standing down before the election. He could then always argue that he didn’t LOSE!! Might sound daft but as we know his ego is incredibly important to him.

That said, I‘m moving away from the idea that this is fake news. The Republicans have been trying to move the campaign away from Covid and obviously this brings it back centre stage. I’m not sure they would have done that on purpose.

Yes, I am being rather cynical. If it were Fake Covid I should think they would have timed it to be a little closer to the election date, probably the day before the next debate.

But there is no doubt that Trump will manoeuvre to take full advantage of the circumstances. As long as he does not snuff it, of course. But that probability is remote.

I doubt there is much love for Trump in the Republican Party, especially as they will currently be expecting him to lose the election.
If Trump gets symptoms even that might be enough for them to manoeuvre him out of the way, perhaps even with Trump’s approval (or maybe not!) if it allows him to save face prior to a likely defeat?

Trump's just tweeted that he's already made a full recovery.

This is the greatest recovery the world has ever seen. He puts this down to his superhuman powers, and to the millions of messages of goodwill he's received from the NRA, the Klu Klux Klan and the Proud Boys

There is a delicious irony of course that the man who, in a recently published study, has done more than anyone else on the planet to spread misinformation about the virus, has now succumbed and is a victim of what he has erroneously referred to as a hoax.

Moving forward you would hope that he recovers and recants his luddite views, and starts addressing the problem seriously with vigour and intelligence, hopefully resulting in a decrease in American deaths...

If true i hope he recovers as others have said no matter what you think of him you should not wish serious illness on the clown.
The sad thing is nobody can be sure if he is telling the truth.
His credibility is only slighter higher than OO when he was running BFC.
I am aware politicians in general cannot be trusted. I do think even by politician standards though his standing on honesty is low.
TBH Im surprised Melania has it.
Didnt realise they were close!! 🤪

The arrangement is once a month, as long as he wears a mask.

She got turned on by his reference to "Proud Boys"
