Turton

he had a good game last night, got forward really well, and put in some decent crosses. he seems to make better decsions going forward recently, i think it would be fair to say he used to run out of ideas once he came forward. still solid in defence, could get caught out by pace though.

Everyone rightfully saying how much Ekpeteta is inproving each game, but what about Oliver Turton?

Harshly written off by many on here, but at least to me he looks like the one benefitting from Critchleys coaching the most
I like Turton, in fact I have very rarely disliked any of our players over the last 40 years.

I do feel Gabriel may be more of the first choice as the season goes on as I think he has slightly more to offer. But critchley has the choice which is good.

Some of the stuff written has been childlike, but unfortunately that goes with the territory on here.

I think he has been excellent most of the time this season, he has been defensively good and he has been intelligent when going forward. Husband on the other hand, I am still not convinced, I think a fully fir Garbutt will take the left back place, he gives far more variety and is a better all round player.

Turton has done ok except when played at either CM or CB. He does not stand out as a star player but he also doesn't let us down very often either. He is perfectly adequate for L1 but if we want to push on wards and upwards we need better and allow him to be a solid squad player but nothing more.

He has frustrated me - quite a lot. Distribution and slowing the game down mainly.

Last night was one of his best games for us. Signs of clear improvement. It’s a real positive that we have the strength in depth to have 2 reliable players per position.

Turton is a good player and has been one of our most consistent performers this season. Last night he was outstanding.

I think people need to watch the game really. He is a rank average League One player. He has had the lowest ball retention of ANY player in the majority of games this season, sometimes dipping below 40%. What that means is, he gives the ball away 60% of the time he has it and 95% in some games, he passes backwards.

Last night he had a good game and played at the level he should have. Don't let it cloud your judgement and say he has been "excellent" all season because frankly that is absolutely ridiculous. He and Husband have been our weakest links after Nottingham this season. Also for context, in 10 second half touches of the ball, he gave it away 8 times. He must must must improve his distribution, the one good thing about watching on television is that you can see he has other options and massively enjoys passing it backwards. Improve those two areas, pass selection and ball retention then he will win me over.

If he improves and goes on to be a decent player then sure but I believe there is a far better right back on the bench, one that can do it all.

He's being given more confidence in his ability to pass it forward, also to go past his man and get a cross in. Definitely improving .

I think Husband has gone backwards a bit from last season but I've not given up on him yet. Besides, every team needs a nutter 👍
