We should just bid anyway. 500k would be a good deal for both clubs. I reckon we could get another 2 1/2 years of goals out of him.Or do they force us into a bid
Sticking point will be wages. Big investment if we can't get those down to a manageable level. We should just bid anyway. 500k would be a good deal for both clubs. I reckon we could get another 2 1/2 years of goals out of him.
A true professional and someone you would want associated with the club going forwardSticking point will be wages. Big investment if we can't get those down to a manageable level.
Worth it if we consider it an investment in both his performances and the knowledge he can potentially pass on to some of the younger lads for development.
But we don't have all the information, we just know Hudders could put us over a barrel.
Agree with this, no matter the wage cost. Rhodes is still as fit as a fiddle and would still score for us if we got into the championship played the right way.We should just bid anyway. 500k would be a good deal for both clubs. I reckon we could get another 2 1/2 years of goals out of him.
From June he's out of contract so on nothing.Sticking point will be wages. Big investment if we can't get those down to a manageable level.

who was the player jujst this weekend scored a hatrick late thirties round about my sons age. Could have been Darren Fletcher/Agree with this, no matter the wage cost. Rhodes is still as fit as a fiddle and would still score for us if we got into the championship played the right way.
You see some strikers going on to their late 30's banging goals in, like a Kevin Phillips.
He isn't someone who relies on pace and I think the last 3 or 4 years where he's been a bench warmer mostly will add to his longevity.
It's a complete no brainer.
He loves it here and clearly has his mojo back. His work rate was phenomenal yesterday considering he played 3 games in quick succession.

THANKS . Norman Stanley came to mind at one point.Stephen Fletcher
Why!! When we give Appleton and DITCH THE CRITCH 4 year deals2.5 year deal is a massive risk!
Half a million!!!We should just bid anyway. 500k would be a good deal for both clubs. I reckon we could get another 2 1/2 years of goals out of him.
They’re not players approaching the end of their careersWhy!! When we give Appleton and DITCH THE CRITCH 4 year deals

Firstly £500k is ludicrous for someone who is 33 and nearly 34 ( he is 34 on 5 February) Secondly, a two and a half year contract for someone who is nearly 34 would take him to nearly 37 - ridiculous and no way on this earth we will do either. At best it will be a nominal fee say £10k or £20k and a one year contract if we can get him.We should just bid anyway. 500k would be a good deal for both clubs. Not a bad shout to be fair18 months plus 12 extension .
He’s out of contract in 5 months and has zero resale value due to his age.Half a million!!!
It'd be a great deal for Huddersfield.
At this moment in time he's probably worth 200-300k max.
The half a million quoted in the original post has pangs of desperation as he isn't worth that at all. He’s out of contract in 5 months and has zero resale value due to his age.
I’d love to sign him up but thank fuck it’s not my money you lot are spending.
He can if somebody wants to buy him,but correct, not on loan.According to reports he is on 11k a week, Blackpool pay a portion of his salary, with Huddersfield rounding it off to the 11k reported. We need to be realistic & sensible on the Jordan Rhodes situation.
He will be 34 soon & out of contract with Uddersfield come the season end. No way should we be bidding any money for him.
If Uddersfield recall him so be it (he can’t play for anyone else anyway !).
I have no idea on amounts & figures but I imagine Rhodes is on in excess of £10k a week ? Of which I assume we are paying a significant chunk of said wage (?50%)? I cannot see us smashing our wage budget structure to take over his contract ? (If Huddersfield effectively passed him onto us).
In the summer I would be surprised if anyone was offering Rhodes more than a 1+1 year contract ?
The half a million quoted in the original post has pangs of desperation as he isn't worth that at all.
You correctly pointed out he's out of contract at the end of the season but if a fee isn't paid for him now he could well go to a club that may only offer a 1+1 but will pay bigger wages.
The only way JR will be at Bloomfield Rd at the end of January imo, is if Huddersfield don't actually want him back, his agent has tried to broker a deal at Blackpool as Rhodes genuinely wants to stay or no interest comes in for him at other clubs.

When he is out of contract his agent will get the best deal for him financially, other clubs will offer more wages, think only chance of getting him is to ask Huddersfield if they will sell now, even then there could be other clubs show a interest. He’s out of contract in 5 months and has zero resale value due to his age.

You’re probably right but how much would you be willing to pay for a player with no potential sell on value and who would struggle in the Championship? When he is out of contract his agent will get the best deal for him financially, other clubs will offer more wages, think only chance of getting him is to ask Huddersfield if they will sell now, even then there could be other clubs show a interest.
But not as a big a risk as a 4 year deal2.5 year deal is a massive risk!
10k? the club that will pay most wages,it could be us,it could be another Colby Bishop saga.Rhodes reportedly on £570k annuallyOther clubs will offer him more money.
Who?
He came to us for a reason he couldn't get a game in a poor Championship side and not a single team had any interest in him.
Despite his purple patch with us can you see a big queue for a 34 year old in summer me neither.
Jordan is looking at Lge1 now.
I think he’s on just over £8K a weekFrom June he's out of contract so on nothing.
Reported Rhodes is on 11k a week if he's willing to take half that or more give him a 2 & half year deal it's worth a lot of money.
