So now that UEFA and FIFA have banned Russian clubs from all their competitions, is it time for the FA to do the same with Russian owned clubs?

I thought the FA had already suspended yesterday any activity at any level with Russian clubs or associations

True but that applies only to geographically Russian clubs. Not, for example, to Russian owned clubs in other countries such as the UK.

I was half expecting Liverpool to refuse to play Chelsea yesterday and wondered if the Abramovitch statement was designed to head this off.

After all the “Abromovich transfers Chelsea to its charitable foundation” headlines it transpires that hasn’t happened after all. The excuse is they are trying to work out the legalities.

I bet they are.

First question - where did all the loan money come from? How much?!!!!!

Second question - why isn’t the PL making a noise? And promising to clean up (all the dirty money in) football?

Third question - why aren’t Chelsea fans boycotting matches (although admittedly in most cases that might just mean not turning on their TV).

Typical of FIFA that they had to be pushed into doing the right thing.

Chelsea is a tough one. Feel for the fans, it's hard to see what is the right way to go.

And yet the BBC live fixtures tonight include a Russian Premier League game. Why?

Very good question.

Simple answer.

Don’t watch it!!
Thats all well and good but the question is - is the UK national broadcaster paying a Russian organisation for the rights to show their football. Even if the payment was in the past is it right to still continue to broadcast under the contract given the current sanctions.

No it isn’t right to continue to broadcast. Although the key words in your post are “given the current sanctions”. If the government got of its arse and actually imposed punitive sanctions then TV and other companies would have legal justification for not broadcasting.
