The EU have been blocked by one vote from pro Russian, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in providing £43 billion of support. That on top of the Lack of support from the good old USA following their recent stalemate will see Putin laughing up his sleeve. Particularly after saying that Ukraine has no future. Worrying.
 
Yes agreed. My hunch is that Orban might back down if talks re Ukraine’s entry to the EU are dropped.
Maybe the Republicans will accept a smaller arms bill in the New Year.
 
EU looking to sidestep Orban.
More worrying is the US withdrawing support which will completely dry up if Trump is elected next year.
Not sure what the end game is for Putin. If he takes Ukraine, as is becoming more likely, then he would have to fight an ongoing western backed guerilla war for the foreseeable future.

That is one of the drawbacks of being a member of the EU. You cannot choose who will be in power in any of the countries, and that one person or his/her party can hold the rest to ransom.

Likewise, because the UN was set up just after WW2 it was considered that the victors plus China, to represent that part of the world, should have a veto over all other members. 'Do as we say, not as we do'. Unfortunately, China has become a communist country, Russia is its usual awkward self and the USA seem to think it is theirs. However, it has,a number of times, proven to be a cause of division in the greater scheme of things.
 
One of our neighbours is Ukrainian and her brother has just arrived and is on leave from his role in the army as an artillery man. She says war has aged him a lot.

They sure are brave boys. From the footage I’ve seen it’s like a shoot ‘em up PlayStation game. World War 1 style but with Skynet.

Looks horrendous, as you say with shelling, snipers and drones all at play, being a front line soldier is worse than ever. Then throw in hypothermia, rodent diseases etc, it;s on a par with WW1 trenches, if not worse.

It is indeed one of the drawbacks of EU membership that just one dissenting member state can block a motion. This happened with the last Budget vote and continues to happen. Once again, the behemoth that is the European Union is unable to progress because of internal disagreement. That's why the EU gets by as a trade organisation but fails miserably as a political body.

The saddest part in all of this is that the vast majority of the British only think either Labour or Conservative, have no clue as to what is happening and shout the usual "racist" rhetoric whenever anyone speaks out. Zelensky is a criminal, the west have funded his criminality and pandered to him by attaching a Ukraine flag to their social media profiles. Sheep with no idea, but Viktor Orban and now Geert Vilders are the two shining beacons of hope.

Unfortunately Ukraine are fighting a battle they have no chance of winning.
That is, unless the EU get together and bypass the Hungarian PM.
The EU should take a vote of expelling Hungary. Majority verdict counting.
After all, it's really a Russian satellite.

Not worth a wank the EU Dave their a spineless bunch of tossers I mean how can one country hold all the others to ransom?

Best thing we did was leave others will in the coming years just wait and see. 👍

That spineless bunch have financially supported the Ukraine more than anyone else. Some of the right wing posters on here hold Orban in high regard.

That’s nothing to do with with what’s gone on in the past it’s now I am referring to and right now Hungary are holding up future aid for Ukraine with this crazy stance.

The quote I used reflected that I’ve said nothing about what aid has been sent previously.

They should grow some balls and veto Hungary or better still kick them out of the EU as it’s clear Orban is pro Putin/Russia.
