VAR

Just watching the City match & seen City get a penalty , after the ref reviewed it .
Just got me thinking how many extra points we could have had if VAR was in The Championship.
Certainly today we would have a penalty !

Would have got the win at home vs qpr as well

The Times reported on Thursday that the EFL are aiming to bring in a "VAR-light" system as a low-cost alternative to the setup used in the Premier League.

Could be in place from the start of 2023-24 - but wouldn't have the offside technology or the same number of cameras used in the top flight.

Fine by me, as long as judgments are consistent (which would be helped by having a national centre, like Stockley Park) and it's restricted to clear & obvious errors (if they can't see an error after, say, 1 minute, the ref's decision stands).

No. Fuck VAR in the EFL. it’s just used in the EPL to come up with decisions which suit the bigger clubs.

Every week I read in the press (don’t watch much EPL) about inexplicable decisions influenced by VAR officials which in 90 per cent of cases seem to go the way of the bigger club.

Not fine by me…….it’s shite

Just leave it to the on field officials.

It's part of football and the debate that follows.
Rather than VAR I'd like to see 4 liners. It's always been a bug bear with me that the LB has the liner down his throat whilst the RB can get away with 'professional' fouls much easier.

VAR already doesnt work very well for reasons i explain in a different post, so bringing in a slightly less good system is insane.

VAR is pure shite and ruins the purity of the game

Where was the "purity" in Bowler being booked for getting shoved to the ground?
Even Cardiff fans recognise that it should have been a pen.

It was the sort of incident that VAR was meant for - as BHOK says on another thread, "The angle from behind the goal clearly shows a TWO handed shove in his back"

VAR isn't pure shite.
The way it was initially used in the Prem was pure shite, with 2,3,4 minutes being spent judging offsides by the toenail.
Thankfully that nonsense has stopped, and there are a lot fewer VAR controversies than there were. In the first Prem season the post match analyses were dominated by VAR disputes. That doesn't happen anywhere near as much now.

As said above, there would be swings & roundabouts. But ultimately, more correct decisions.
And the on field refs aren't afraid of being corrected - crowds now know that most times a ref is referred to the pitchside monitor, he'll change his decision.

We regularly get fucked over on decisions at the minute… We were also relegated from the PL due to bad decisions and would have stayed up otherwise.

Hopefully we’ll get a full season of positive referee decisions next year when we get promoted 👍
