Branson is looking for the government to help out the airline financially to the tune of £500 million because in common with so many others, are finding things very tough at present.
Should a billionaire owner with his own private island in the Caribbean get help from the tax payer, or should he have to stand on his own two feet.

I am fairly certain some years ago he objected to BA getting any government help, but I may be barking up the wrong tree.

Richard Branson

Net Worth: $5.1 billion

As the founder of Virgin Records and Virgin Atlantic airlines, Richard Branson is a business mogul sitting on a cool $5 billion fortune. Although he hails from the U.K., his primary residence is on Necker Island, an island in the Caribbean that he purchased for $180,000. Branson has repeatedly been accused of escaping to Necker Island as a way out of paying taxes due to the lack of income taxes there, but the Virgin mogul has denied this.

“I have not left Britain for tax reasons but for my love of the beautiful British Virgin Islands,” Branson wrote on the Virgin website in 2013, according to The Telegraph.

As a resident in the U.K., Branson would have to pay 50 percent of his income in taxes, compared to zero percent income taxes as a permanent resident on Necker Island.

I think that clears that question up.

On the surface it seems crazy to fund Virgin, but Rolls Royce and a few other massive companies have said that if Virgin goes under they will too.

If he paid tax in this country and supported his own workforce I might have some sympathy. He does neither.

It's not that long ago he was bleating about Flybe getting a few quid.

This greed rat has won £2 billion in NHS contracts and sued the NHS for an undisclosed amount. This fat sewer rat continues to gorge on public money while he lives TAX FREE on his private British Virgin Island tax haven.

He can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.

If he dropped his ego space plans, he may be able to help himself- and not to public coffers.

No surprise that the super rich with super low morals or ethics are looking for others to fund them.
I will bask in the glory of my success, as long as you bail me out when it gets tough.....

No stuff him.

He’s got billions in his pockets.

Indeed,

“look at me I am a billionaire I did it through risk taking and entrepreneurial skill”

sound of Shiite hitting fan

“can I have a handout please?”
