Watford / Blackpool attendances

Although I considered the volume of sound of Watford supporters to be fairly low you have to commend their actual level of attendance.
The population of Watford is 96,000 so an attendance of just under 20,000 yesterday means almost 1in 5 attend . Compare that to our attendances of around 12,000 out of a population of over 140,000,means just 1 in 14 attend . And included in our figures is an extra amount of away supporters who visit our resort.
There are always reasons given for this , but the disparity is really large . Many apologies if my arithmetic is dodgy ,

There are lots of towns around Watford, St Albans, Rickmansworth, the Chalfonts, do I need to go on ?

And it has just the 3 stations out of / from London ! Massive fan base potentially - shame abo ut ours !

Yesterday was though a very good away turn out - give us a goal and you wouldn’t hear a squeak out of them - gosh they were boring fans !

Your figures are wrong, you're including away fans in the attendances, we have more like 9000 fans at games which is the figure you should be using.

Watford have a constant supply of players shipped in from other teams across Europe owned by the same franchise management so have few worries about getting new players.

They have not been as low as League 1 for decades.

We got to the zprem, took the money and ran. For the next 4 seasons we averaged 14k but those last 2 seasons were a battle against relegation. The Oystons were never interested in maintaining and building on that fan base. I'd like to think Simon Sadler would have done things differently and a successful spell would have increased the numbers.

Watford are an ambitious club who want to return to the Prem, their fan base will feed off that. Give them what we had for 30 years under the O's and they'd be lucky to be getting 9-10 k.

Watford are 3rd in the table, we’re 23rd. It does make a significant difference to attendance figure. Also the population make up is vastly different, as is the population wealth. As things stand at the moment why would non Blackpool supporters spend their money going to watch Blackpool.

If you include Fylde and Wyre, the population is around 330,000, of course there are two very small clubs in the area, which a tiny few go to, but still there’s a decent potential there. As others have said though, Watford have been in the prem recently, they’re in the top three, and spend money we haven’t got.

I’m quite sure SS wants us to be an established championship club, with occasional runs at the top six, in which case our gates would be much higher. Otherwise, why would he spend £30 million on infrastructure I’m quite sure he’ll be addressing the current situation actively.

I reckon at least 2 in 5 in Blackpool support another team as not from these parts
