We need a Ludo

Very good technical player, great song, but never really controlled midfield
Yep, people have rose-tinted specs when it comes to some players of the past. I liked him as a squad player, and he was technically gifted, but often lost the ball as he could be lightweight and as you say struggles to stamp his authority on midfield. He was part of a great squad 2011-12 though considering Adam and Vaughan had left by then, loved that season.

Ludo was a more experienced Charlie Patino. Very comfortable on the ball, technically excellent but not a tackler.

I’m not sure league 1 is the place for such luxury?

David Vaughan was the best we’ve had in years. Excellent defensively. Positive in moving the ball forward and not afraid to shoot. Best player in the Prem season for me.
Was bang average until paired with Charlie…there are plenty of players who could have done same job DV did but only one that could do the job Charlie did..Charlie is the best player we have had this century although dipped second half of the prem season

I can see your point, but wouldnt you say Vaughan still made a decent playing career for himself after us though?

I think that midfield was better than the sum of the parts. Charlie, Vaughnie and Gnasher gelled together in a way that non did later in their careers. Not only did they all play their roles, they had a superb understanding which filled the gaps.

He only started playing really well in the last 6 months of his contract.

Meh Ludo I prefer snakes and ladders where no-one tries to take your eyes out with those plastic counters, lethal when flipped aggressively :(

It's strange how Barry Ferguson has been written out of our recent history when he was better than everyone mentioned on this thread, except Charlie obviously.
Not in the attacking half as Wellens was much better. Barry was miles ahead of Norburn.

Fair points but he was excellent to watch on the ball.Lovely technique.Probably one of the most elegant players we have had at Blackpool.

A EFL Juan Sebastian Veron if you will
My favourite player of that era, he was amazing with the ball at his feet. Ex-Barca academy and boy could you tell.

I dont think he ever really got a decent run under Ollie. The season Ollie left he became a regular and really shone. Scored some great goals.

We need a new owner, with some financial clout, and a new head coach with attacking ideas and tactical nous.
Yeah. If we can just attract a multi billionaire (as a multi millionaire doesn’t cut the mustard these days) then all will be good again.

If everyone on this board and in the town can have a quiet word with their billionaire pals then we should get some nice interest 👍

Better to hope for more than our current stagnation. Just a reminder to you it's said sarcasm is the lowest form of wit pal.
