We should be beating teams like Blackpool

If we field fringe players, and they collectively can't beat Blackpool at home, then they aren't good enough for the Premiership. As long as the mentality is right, we should be far too strong for them.

Forest can only have a squad of 25players just like everyone else in the prem?
They have more than 25 players on the books though. If you think that players the caliber of Bowler playing for their B team then you can add another 10 players onto that. It's well known that they have brought in loads if players in the last 2 years. They brought in 13 alone this summer.

They have lost most players to the African cup of nations (4 I think) but they may be fringe players.
Our boys should be up for it and there is no reason we can’t cause an upset

The poster is spot on. Their bench and fringe players eclipse anything we have.

Doesn't mean our lads cannot give it a hell of a go and win the tie.
Yep. Their squad players should be a bit better than league one level if they are a Prem club.

Forest are probably a worse team today than the team that went up from the championship. Get an earlish goal against them they'll fold like cheap picnic furniture.

If we win no doubt a few of our so called fans will say it was only a 2nd string Forest side.

Who knows anyway, Critch may rest a few of ours too

Our fans have said this about the majority of teams in league 1 btw.

Tbf many say if we have intentions of being right up there you need to be. beating sides below you more often then not.

Which is just a statement of fact really.
Of course. You don't lose lots of games and win leagues.

But they can only choose from their 25registered players surely?

What I would say is that there isn't the really noticeable drop off between first choice players and second string like last season.

That's not saying that the 1st choice are world beaters but just that the squad has a lot of players that are decent (by Prem standards) but not brilliant. This is a real bugbear of mine but the recruitment since promotion has been very much quantity over quality which was probably necessary last season but not so much this.

Bowler is out on loan at the moment and to be honest will probably never play a game for us. Weird signing and seemingly one brought in just in case we were relegated. I'm sure he's really benefitted financially from it but from a career perspective it doesn't seem like a great move for JB's progress.

It's true we signed a lot of players and this isn't just limited to our Prem seasons. The Greek owners were doing it in the Championship too with no real plan behind it and in my opinion lucked out massively hiring Steve Cooper who could knit the best of them together.

Prem squads can only have 25 players registered so in that sense our squad actually available is no bigger than anyone else's. The problem is that they're virtually all senior pros on good money and not necessarily content with not playing and then you have the likes of Harry Arter who has leeched from the club for years without ever playing or even training.

They can pick anyone on their books. The 25 registered players are only for the league. Chelsea have 2 on the pitch now that have never played a league game for them.
That's my undertstanding. Squad size is effectively non-existent during transfer windows,

If we get a draw and replay that’s the best I can imagine and that would be a miracle considering our away form and the clear gulf between the 2 squads

I would definitely play Eki and Gabriel as they have the experience and played there before

Good luck to all
