Well done lads

I find it hard to criticise any of the players tonight, they tried their utmost and had we had our finishing boots on might've won.

How shameful it is though, that they've only been given a manager that actually believes in and recognises the abilities they have, with six games to go. Yes we made mistakes still, and no it wasn't perfect, but it was by miles the most comfortable we've looked on the ball. The players we have do have ability, but they've been totally mismanaged and I feel sorry for them. They deserve better. So do the fans - the support from the stands was excellent at times tonight, and the board really haven't deserved that level of support this season.

Based on what I've seen so far of Dobbie, I like the style of play, I like the team line-ups, I like that he's been decisive (Grimmy/Maxwell), I like the attitude he has towards the club. I'm starting to think he might be a good choice - he is definitely someone I can support, and I'm finding myself hoping he's appointed just to eliminate the risk of the board making another managerial fuck up.
Today we played a team on the verge of the play offs and I thought we were the better side. We make too many individual errors at the moment, but generally we were better on the ball than they were and had carved out some brilliant openings that should've been put away.

The main thought I came away with tonight was 'what might have been'. If we'd made the right managerial appointment when Critchley left, we'd be playing Championship football next season, I'm 100% certain of that. This has been a season to forget and I hope the board have learnt some serious lessons from it. They really need to because if they don't, we won't be back here for a while.

Well said. I had the same thought while watching tonight. I'd have no concerns if we gave Dobs his chance as it stands.

Thought the lads played well tonight - much better than the rest of the season . Unfortunately missing the great chances we had cost us - could of easily won that tonight

Dobbie is certainly having an effect on the squad. However the Board have failed in many ways appointing Dobbie would be there get out option !

Unless there is some absolutely, unequivocal better option that the board have their sights on - he should get it.

We all witnessed tonight a better 45 minutes than we've seen since maybe early on in the season in some of our decent results. If we'd had our shooting boots on and didn't miss glaring opportunities we'd be hailing him as the saviour and given ourselves a great chance of staying up. I don't think we can fault Dobbie for players missing sitters, but he deserves all the credit for getting a side we've watched barely record a shot on target for months, creating multiple clear cut chances against a team now in the play-offs.

He's well liked, knows the club, the fans and what it's all about and wants to play attacking football (the alleged Blackpool way we were promised). Ticks a lot of boxes, and when we're most likely in League One next season it'll be a lot loss pressure to cut his teeth.

Absolutely agree . We don't want anymore dower managers we need a positive forward thinking and creative manager....... Dobbie

Great post. There is a candidate in Dobbie who has a clear preferred playing style, who shows confidence in his players, and who knows and understands the DNA of Blackpool FC. I reckon if he had been given the 18 games or whatever it was when we dumped Appleton, we might be sat above that line now. I think he would have used all of our squad effectively, not just the ball players but also the lads who've been digging in for so little reward under MM.

I also thought the short but effective cameo tonight from Brad Holmes spoke volumes about where we've gone wrong this season. It took Dobbie to give him his chance, in which he showed pace, aggression, skill, and no fear. I look forward to seeng him tear up a few Div 1 defences next season.

Why gamble with an unknown however impressive they look? Give it Dobbie. He gets us, he loves the club and I reckon he’d do a great job. Plus it means we get a new manager in early so there’s no messing about and time wasting in the summer

I agree but you should still be shot 💋

Whilst a little disappointed leaving the ground , I did feel we had played better and it showed that there is a light at the end of the tunnel . We will be back

I thought we played really well and but for 2 poor goals conceded we were the better team and created the better chances.
As for Dobbie, yeh I'd give it him for 2 reasons, firstly he has a set style of play which is attractive and attacking and knows the club but secondly I absolutely do not trust the board to appoint someone better. We won't pay what's required for Wellens who would be a good choice so would prob end up with Leam Richardson who's style of football is not great and performed worse with Wigan in the championship than anyone else before being binned off.

I saw Chopper last week, once of these forums, and he commented that Dobbie seems like he has something about him. He does. He's a shrewd chap my big bro and I always take notice of his thoughts.

Personally I think it's a risk to consider someone with so little coaching experience, never mind management. But tbh every choice is a risk. And the closer you get to someone who has experience, a good track record, energy, loyalty etc, the more unaffordable and illusive it gets.

I feel one of the common faults of Appleton and McCarthy was that they didn't feel like they belonged here and didn't buy in. They stood outside the door and looked uncomfortable. And then started saying we weren't good enough. We need someone who moves in and redecorates and sticks the kettle on and invites the neighbours round to get to know them and wants to stay and have regular parties. Holloway and Ayre did all that. Critch was a nice polite neighbour who everybody liked but then one day his house was up for sale and all the furnuture had gone and nobody was that surprised really cos he wasn't like us. Didnt stop a few idiots daubing JUDAS on the door though. Pointlessly, cos he'd gone.

What am I on about? Dobbie. He feels at home here. We like him. We could definitely do worse. We could maybe do better. We could maybe make him half of something good. And search for the other half, take our time, resist the usual panic button.
