Well then

Let's be honest we've been given a lesson there. In my opinion there was a gulf in class, blackpool seemed quite far off the pace at times. Dougall seemed to be a spare part and the introduction of bowler highlighted how poor CJ was this afternoon. As soon as bowler came on all play seemed to run through him, which gave us an outlet we were missing all game...albeit too late.
Cardiff were a class above on the day, the type of games we need to learn from.
On to the next one UTMP.

It’s going to happen more this season so get used to it.
Said a week last Friday night after watching the Bournemouth v West Brom game teams were all packing big solid physical lads today today proved it.

Cardiff were a big strong side. We had no match for that today. Looked a bit nervous. We also played a lot of panic passes without looking up for a teammate. Consequently the ball was often lost. Early days. On we go to Tuesday. 🍊UTMP

Cardiff are not that good and it showed when Lavery and Bowler came on. They had no answer to Lavery other than to foul him. The Ref let them get away with lots of dodgy tackles that should have had a yellow cards early doors which would have put a stop to there shit.

Critch did not adapt to the tactics. Lesson learned for him lets hope

I really didn't expect CJ to start after the previous 2 games. Surely not on Tuesday. He will get better though. People writing him off already?

I agree about Cardiff not being that good. Husband needs to move out to left back with Garbutt in front of him. Put Bowler on the right, Yates & Lavery up top with Ward in forward mid as a No. 10 and we could have played through them. Until the Viking is back, pair Keogh with Marvin (Keogh moving to left central defence), and use Dougall as the holding midfielder.

That is exactly the way i saw it. The referee was poor. Bowler and Lavery look very decent at this level and must start on tuesday.

I thought Keshi looked a different player last 15 mins in that 10 position. He was threading balls through to Lavery and Yates (like against Bristol) and linking midfield to attack.

But equally we're not as good as last season.

Dougall only played 45 mins before today.

Defence isn't as good, Ekpiteta available but not played.

Lavery and Bowler the players doing the best attacking wise benched.

New style thats got us playing a bit like mk dons. When pressed we struggle.

So were not exactly our best at the moment.

He really did look better in that role. I felt sorry for Dougall as he Clearly is way off match fit, would have been better playing James.

I'm not so sure about class.

They were a typical McCarthy team who niggled and fouled and played to their strengths, relying on set pieces whether throw ins or freekicks to load the ball to the Giants and play for the knockdowns.

We never got near to coping with it all day. I would have played Marv to at least compete with them.

We also looked ponderous on the ball, taking too long to pass and often playing the wrong ball anyway. Time and again Yates made runs but was never found as we preferred to play a square or backwards ball. Needed to be braver.

Like last season we struggled against defensive niggly sides. We'll be better on Tuesday because they'll come to play.

It's funny, I said to the fella next to me after 60 minutes that dougall was having a great game, never gave the ball away and was there breaking it up, getting feet in. As soon as I said that he got disposed twice which they should've scored from. Still a far better team with dougall in that position than James that is for DAMM sure!!

When they are both fully fit it has to be Dougall and Stewart together. I thought Ward had a shaky start but was excellent second half, is he the answer in front of those two? Certainly for some games

Another underwhelmed by Cardiff city and the one trick pony Mick Mccarthy. A hard physical side who played to their strengths and certainly included constant blatant fouls. The ref really does need to go to specsavers. The introduction of Bowler and the very decent Lavery brought real quality to our game.
