Well this certainly surprised me

Just came back from shopping and was driving down Station Road which is the the centre of Cheadle Hulme and the main road through.
There were 3 coaches all parked up in a line on the opposite side to me.Thought they have to be for Man U fans to be picked up to go to OT( I often see a coach for City along the same stretch when they are at home).
But then I noticed people were getting off rather than on and saw on the front coach the Wolves Emblem…and next thing saw loads of their fans walking past the Railway Station on the way up the hill.Strange thing they were all walking past the first pub( the Platform 5…the actual station has 4 😉) a Holts Pub and presumably on to the next Pub ( The John Millington..Hyde Brewery).
So not man U after all but yes they are playing Wolves this afternoon.
Now I know we have 7 drinking place within less than a mile of the station and 5 are very close by it….including a Wetherspoons which was more or less across the road from where they were parked but none seemed to be heading there( probably as it is usually a Man U or City pub as it shows live matches) but they made some detour to opt for Cheadle Hulme for a pre match drink and food ( all but one of the pubs has restaurant facilities).
Maybe the realised what a great place it is( well as I live here I would say that) but not sure the locals will take to kindly if it becomes a norm on match days to have around 150 rival ( to some) fans roaming around.
OT is about 9 miles away.🙄

There isn't a Spoons in Cheadle Hulme, they sold it years ago. Some good pubs in the area though particularly on Mellor Road.

I always thought the Kings Tap was a Spoons…
and I have lived in Cheadle Hulme since 1977😳
Used to be the best Chinese ( River Fortune ) by a country mile but long gone and then turned into that particular pub.
I forgot Mellor Road has that trendy Wine Bar type place, don’t think of it has a pub,bit like the “Inventory “next to the John Millington.
Do my drinking at home as Pubs and with a teetotal wife are just not my thing ( especially at my age😉)and cost a fortune too.
If I do go to any then it would be the church inn as it is marginally the nearest to me but I still pass the Chiverton Tap and think I really should try this place once at least.

So basically you've just typed a load of nonsense when you don't even go to a pub, and furthermore decided that all the establishments in Cheadle wouldn't welcome extra income. You've also made a generalisation about football supporters. You my friend have been awarded the dunce of the year award 👏

Think the theme was about Wolves fans ( not just one but three coach loads) detouring well away from OT to where I live which at least to me seemed very unusual to say the least.
I’m sure the local pubs welcomed the income it brought in but these are hardly what you would call designated away pubs and whilst these fans looked more like your well behaved BSA fans( mostly middle aged looking) I doubt many living here would be happy for this to become the norm( although I expect it is highly unlikely).
No I don’t frequent the local pubs other than on rare occasions but so what…I’m 72 not 21 so no real interest in spending the afternoon or evening down the pub when I can relax have a glass of wine or beer or cider at home.if that makes me a dunce then so be it.

Random fans in random places, you say?

I lived in Milton Keynes in 1992 and was wearing a BFC at Wembley t-shirt from our PoF couple of days earlier…walked past a pub load of Leicester fans on their way to Wembley…they gave me a cheer….which was nice.
