Wellens still fancies coming back?

I thought the same when he did a piece for the EFL before our BSM semi-final which was singing our praises as a fanbase and all that, although he described us as orange! Now he has been waxing lyrical in the build up to the game, I did wonder whether he may be positioning himself in case Critchley ends up leaving.

Can't say I'd mind him, he's done a brilliant job with Leyton Orient - they're breathing down our necks at the minute.

Impressive. I like him. Like when he talks about wanting Moncs to be in certain defensive positions whilst not expecting him to go around tackling everyone. That made me think of some of the criticism that CJ gets - don't expect him to do lots of stuff he isn't good at. Yes, he's going to be managing at a higher level, with or without Orient.

Very impressed with that. Clearly very knowledgeable and you can see why players would want to play for him.
Interesting that he says he thought Blackpool would be top two. Maybe thinks we are underperforming.

Yes he speaks very well, I wish we had a midfielder like him pulling the strings, we'd be nailed on automatic. He did acknowledge Critchley had a tough start getting the right mentality back to a squad that had just been relegated. Hopefully we can kick on now and get in those playoffs. If Critch does end up going he'd be one for the short list but I still think we can do it this season.

We are so much better without don't you think?
If he can't be played wide in a 4 then there is no point in playing him since he downed tools after getting another deal.

I am always happy to be proven wrong by him because on his day he is a weapon.

He's effective when used properly. Ideally further up the pitch and in a situation where the opposition are having a go.
I'm guessing Orient will come and have a go at us tonight, if they are even dreaming of the play offs then they probably have to beat us. On that basis if Hamilton starts I can understand it but perfect scenario for me is we take the lead and in the 2nd half Hamilton comes on to exploit the gaps the opposition leave.
Against a well organised defence sitting tight he is generally ineffective.

Summed him up very well there☝☝👍

I'm a fan but yes, I also groan at him at times. What gnarles me is people slating him when he doesn't tackle. He's a winger for goodness sake - not a wing back, not a defensive midfielder, not a roaming number 10. If we aren't going to use out and out wingers there's a point for saying we shouldn't buy them. Then again, he's weighed in with a couple of good goals, good crosses and he scares the beJesus out of opposition defenders.

A great, combative player and a good young manager.
But with SS we've got NC for 3 more seasons, so we don't need to concern ourselves with RW.
Good former players, who play well against us, always attract venom from some supporters.

...and the studs of on-loan Rangers players.

As much as I dislike Critchley, it's roll the dice time now. Everything that he hasn't done that we've wanted him to do, he has to do now to stand any chance of getting into the Playoffs. I believe that that was the target at the start of the season and if he doesn't achieve it, then maybe the axe will swing. For now we've got to back him until the end of the season, if he fails, I'd have Richie Wellens all day long as new manager.

Never got the vitriol against him. Good player for us, and forced out by Hendry.

Decent job wherever he's been as a manager.
I remember he was happy being quoted in the Gazette that the manager (McMahon) wasn't being given the funds he needed. Also, he didn't get on with Hendry.

Course he wants to come back, 🐴💋. He was unsure about how he would be treated after the Charlie Adam incident, he is well aware there is no animosity there. Hopefully LO don't make play offs n we can lure him in.
