Surely this is absolute gutter politics.

Is this what we can expect from the Labour Party? Stirring up hatred and racism? Look at the way Dawn Butler tried to utilise Susan Halls tweets about the Notting Hill carnival and use it to attack her about race.

If Susan Hall is “far-Right”, how are the Left now describing neo-Nazis? The Tory candidate for London mayor was repeatedly smeared during the election campaign.

It started with her rival Sadiq Khan likening the hair salon owner, 69, to Donald Trump, before going on to suggest that “some of the things [Susan Hall] has said and done are racist”.
He backed up the accusation by citing examples including her “liking Enoch Powell”, and “amplifying a rainbow swastika”, as well as suggesting that the “black community has a problem with crime” and advocating more stop and search.

The reality was rather different. Hall liked a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, which stupidly suggested Powell should be included in a set of playing cards featuring great British prime ministers. And she responded to a rainbow swastika image, idiotically posted by the Left’s other bête noire, Laurence Fox, with a facepalm emoji.

The mother of two has also questioned whether the Notting Hill carnival should be relocated in the interests of public safety, and liked a post on X describing Khan as “the nipple-high mayor of Londonistan”.

While some may question the wisdom of all this online activity, shadow health secretary Wes Streeting’s suggestion that “a win for Susan Hall and the Conservatives is a win for racists, white supremacists and Islamophobes the world over,” was an insult to the electorate.

The casualisation of terms like “far-Right” and “alt-Right” is of course designed to move the centre ground further to the Left by making mainstream views, ones often held by the majority of the population, appear extremist.

During a public meeting in Ealing last year, Khan even suggested that some of those who opposed his deeply unpopular Ulez (Ultra Low Emission Zone) were a “part of the far-Right”, adding: “Some are Covid deniers, some are vaccine deniers and some are Tories.”

Perish the thought that they might be opposed to the London Mayor and his self-indulgent policies because they find him to be the intolerant one, engaging in precisely the “dangerous and divisive gutter politics” Streeting accused Hall of promoting. Those who voted against Khan because they think he’s completely useless are certainly “right” – just not in Labour’s sense of the word

Not our issue although it does seem that anyone in that there London is sick to the back teeth of Khan and his crap projects?

Although their taste in Mayor hasn’t been great for a long time.

He's completely right. It's not exclusively a win for far right racists but take 5 seconds to look on the cesspit of Twitter comments and you will see that it is a win for them and Susan Hall has pandered to them all campaign. Tory party members have been active in FB groups spouting vile islamophobia.

Apparently Susan Hall was once a fair minded moderate politician who worked a leader of minority councils and found compromise with the opposition. It's clear now she has figured what her strategy is and it's to flirt with the fervent anti Khan lot who claim Islamists are taking over London.

Give over with the pearl clutching. Just look at Kelvin MacKenzie's latest tweet and you will know racism is well and alive on this country.

Nowt wrong with Sadiq, seems like a great bloke and obviously has all Landaners concerns at heart😉

You need to get out a bit more.

Racist or not, Hall does come across as someone who should be nowhere near a position of responsibility.

I’m sure Streeting is correct when he says racists and Islamophobes will be cheering her on.

Fingers crossed the good people of London do the right thing.
Why?

So if there's 2 candidates of different race competing one shouldn't win because people on both sides have a tiny minority of extremists wanting them to win.

Makes sense.

I agree, Streeting’s word are awful, no worse than what is constantly levelled at Khan though. Let’s be honest, they’re all as bad as each other, which is why most of us are sick to death of them. I’m no fan of Khan but at the end of the day if those that care enough (that’s those that bother to vote), vote him in for a third term then that’s democracy.

Nonesense, it's a disgraceful way to operate in an election. There's many reason people may want to vote for her, many aginst Khan and Ulez. To try and discourage like that is wrong.

Twitter comments are a disgrace on all levels, although am not on there so can't see then anymore since the change a while back.

What's the evidence she's pandered to them?

What did Kelvin say?

Have you seen some of the trash her team has been putting out? False penalty charges with no Conservative Party info, contributing to racist facebook posts.

As Corporal Jones said, they don't like it up 'em. If you dish it out, don't whinge if you are tackled.

Apparently there's lower turnout in the central areas and higher in the outer. Could go either way.

Wes Streeting comes across as a sneering individual who talks in sound bites. As we are going to be stuck with him for the next few years, one would hope there is actually some depth to the individual.
Strange that for years Labour have accused the Conservatives of being an extreme party, but can not see anything wrong in comments like these.
We pay peanuts to our leaders and wonder why we get monkeys, or egotistical hobby politicians.

Ahh so the 'they started it' approach...

All I've seen is a shared cause in anti ulez cause, the fact you get some shady characters in those online groups is nowt to do with her.

She's perfectly entitled to be against it and gain support for that.

A tiny minority probably wanted brexit for racist reasons, doesn't mean the majority shouldn't have voted for it for legitimate reasons.

It's literally true..very racist people will be happy Hall won, and she has pandered to them with a knowing wink. Good on him for having the balls to call it out. You don't have to be racist to vote for her, but you have to be ok voting for someone who is willing to do that.

Did you not see the recent fake news the Tories released claiming “London under Labour has become a crime capital of the world” while showing footage of a stampede during rush hour in New York? Trying to pass off a stampede in New York as the streets of London is literal gutter politics.

That tweet by Wes Sterling is a drop in the ocean compared to how the Tories weaponised anti-Semitism to win the 2019 election.

In 2019 the Tories created a fake website called labourmanifesto.co.uk with the intent of misleading voters that it was the actual Labour manifesto. The official Tory twitter page spread this fake information / propaganda.

They also paid for a Google ad so this website was the top result if you searched for Labour on Google, this spread like wildfire and massively influenced public opinion.

Also don't forget all the unfulfilled promises like the pledge to build 40 new hospitals (there have been 11 new hospitals built since 2019). Promised not to raise national insurance (it was raised 10%). Promised to keep state pension increase in line with inflation (state pension was frozen).
Oh and the huge promise to keep the existing energy prices cap... instead we lived through the cost of living crisis!

If you are talking dirty/gutter politics then look no further that the Tory party - which was a literal party while the rest of us were in lockdown!

Yeah it's laughable, yet you get the same people defending it on here. It's literally the same sort of extremism they call out yet the other way.

So let's flip it, I'm sure some some far left extremists would be happy when things go to their liking.

Should politicians not engage with a subject that the 'far left' would agree with? Your argument makes no sense.

Is Khan or his inner circle starting and joining Facebook groups filled with these radical extremists who are making death threat? No, that isn't happening is it.

Labour reporting that Khan has won again
Well done, that's democracy in action.
Goodbye Susan Hall, you were frankly the strangest candidate I have ever seen from the Tories in a mayoral race, the bottom of the bottom of the barrel. Back to oblivion you go.
As it turns out, the people who live in London have a very different view of it than the people who don't live there.

The way the Tories talk about London baffles me. Just absolutely trashing the capitals with fear mongering and sensationalism. 10 million people. Surrendering the entire capital to Labour. They might not get a single MP there. Even places like Wandsworth, Kensington, Chelsea, are turning their backs.

So if they joined a pro ulez group, but deep in the comments section some posted some extreme things, that means they support those comments?

That's not what the reporting said is it, why have you changed it to make it a lot softer?

I haven't I've just tried to flip it.

In the article it says...

"There is no suggestion the racist posts or those encouraging vandalism were made, or engaged with, by Conservative politicians or staff."

From elsewhere...

"A Conservative Party spokesperson said the party “unequivocally condemns all discriminatory language, and never encourages nor condones vandalism or criminal activity.”

There could be comments made on here that don't meet with certain standards but should all of us be tarred with it for being on here still?

If you are active in Facebook groups rife with racism and death threats but then say you condemn them after an investigation outs you I don't think it's a big mystery what is going on there.

She is as mad as a box of frogs;

Here is her famous claim that she was robbed when she wasn't;

Something similar happened to me recently.

I put some bags in storage bins outside and some nutters from the council I think turned up and robbed them. They come back weekly looking for items but it's always too early to catch them.

I'm not claiming she's acted perfectly on everything.

But the sort of tweet put out in thr OP isn't the sort of politics Labour should be pushing.

If they blame the Tories one way they are purposefully being very divisive another.

Elements of the left seem determined to label everything far right these days.

No you're just being an apologist and intentionally downplaying the reporting whole clutching pearls over Streeting calling it out.
No I'm not.

The fact you've defended this tweet says a lot.

It's a very poor thing for an mp to tweet.

Deleted my post because I can't be arsed but yep, stand by supporting the tweet. Not all supporters of Hall are far right, but far right people and Islamophobes do support her. Obvious evidence of that unless you are wilfully ignorant.

Life's too short. Not worth the time really. I try not to spend too much time on here
But notably the Garden Bridge project , the bridge was never built and was never required but cost around £40- 50 million. A large sum spent on second hand German hosepipes, for crowd control, but were never used.

I think this from the article sums it up perfectly.

"While some may question the wisdom of all this online activity, shadow health secretary Wes Streeting’s suggestion that “a win for Susan Hall and the Conservatives is a win for racists, white supremacists and Islamophobes the world over,” was an insult to the electorate."

So an interesting project killed off by Khan and Hodge, presumably because Boris was behind it.

How much has Khan p***ed up the wall on ULEZ, how much has his disastrous management of TFL cost the country?

Yeah the electorate have really made their voices clear they don't like Labour anymore this week. Oh wait

What that got to do with anything i just said?

There doesn't seem to be a groundswell of labour love, although some, but more sick of the Tories, not that it matters to labour.

Yes it is gutter politics but that's where we are following the very worst of America. Europeans are looking at us askance.

The fake penalty notices were nothing to do with ULEZ

ULEZ has improved air quality in London and is relatively cheap, that's why it's popular and Khan is a popular Mayor. I know this boils right wing urine but that's how deluded they are.

Streeting said some interesting things and I was impressed about health(he will probably be health secretary) flexible about sorting the. nHS and using private sector to get the waiting lists down but his comments are appalling. Don’t think he is fit to be a minister are you going to act Keir?

It hasn't improved air quality, it isn't cheap, it's not popular and neither is Khan.

If the national polls weren't a factor, Khan would be looking for a new job.

Also, no response on TFL, and how much have the pro-Hamas protests cost to police to date?

Another excellent result for the progressives and yet another dismal day for the Cons and conspiracy theorists.

The only downside is we’ll have to suffer another 24 hours of JJ posting like a person on the edge 😀.
Why? I couldn't really care about the result, although it would have been funny to see Khan lose, this was about the disgusting divisive post that Labour MP made. Hardly on the edge for discussing issues, you seem to be projecting.

It hasn't improved air quality, it isn't cheap, it's not popular and neither is Khan.

Let me say this slowly, Khan has won a 3rd term long before the Tories collapsed to their current nadir. You just don't get it do you? ULEZ is everything I said it was. It cost ~ £155 millions and saved the NHS millions more with fewer hospial admissions not to mention improved quality of life. You are willfully blind because you want to be and I wouldn't have voted for Khan in a million years, I just recognise what is.

Khan 'isn't popular' but has just won an election standing for mayor of London.
