What a night.

Firstly the performance. Superb from every player in what was very much a banana skin game, but the focus, the determination, the organisation was all there as it has been most of the season. I think Simms is good enough, if he's in the zone, to win us promotion. He's got the quality to do that imo. Brilliant from him tonight and could easily have had a hat trick.
Also, Anderson is like having a brand new, top quality player. Looked sharp, great first touch, can run with the ball and just feels like exactly what we've been missing for weeks/months.
The subs were spot on too - taking Husband and Stewart off was absolutely the right thing to do as the ref was losing control and dishing out cards left right and centre. Tonight really couldn't have gone any better.

So, third in the table with one to play. I think we need to aim to win and keep momentum rather than resting too many. But what a performance by the lads over this season, and what character they've shown to overcome what must have been a totally demoralising start to the season. No, we haven't really achieved anything yet, not unless we go up. But I would class our performance over what has been a season of disruption, with injuries galore and playing twice a week for months now, as something the players should rightly be proud of whatever happens in the play-offs. I'm certainly proud of them.

Final word on Critchley. He has surely won over his critics now? You can't argue with the league position, and i'm not buying that it's where we should be because of the backing from the owner. We are about to finish higher than several clubs with greater resources than ours 100%, and of the two above us right now, one had a championship squad in place, and the other spent over £1m on one player. Take a bow Critch! Deserves to be a fans favourite and I think he would be if we were in the ground. This isn't a told you so thing, and I don't care that some don't or didn't rate him. Some criticisms were justified and I agreed at times, but in his first season as a manager he's worked wonders transforming this squad (yes with the help of Calderwood), and it's very obvious that the players believe in him.

So, play offs with a game to spare after 1 win in the first seven. Unbelievable. I had stated I thought the sides in the playoffs were closely matched and there was no standout side....but i'm starting to think there is a standout side. UTMP!

Stop beating yourself up. You're right!

I've not really seen anyone mention this but that was a brilliant call from Critch. Bloody frustrating for Stewart who did absolutely nothing wrong but in the time he was on the pitch he showed what a decent player he is.
