Am I missing something? I really can't see why you would buy a football club. You lose a shed load of money and little reward! What do you think the benefits are?

The benefit of owning a football club it put you on the radar of all the female golddiggers that go after footballers especially when they get to there
late 20's and early 30's. I suppose when you have made a serious amount in business, you have to spend your money on something,
and it's a little bit cheaper than building space rockets. :)

i can see why someone, specifically a fan, would buy a football club. for me it would be maintaining the connection to the town i grew up in, and what the club meant growing up. I think its like buying a yacht, when on it, with the sun shining and the wind blowing you can have the time of your life, which justifies the extrordinary cost, but in bad weather all you can do is hunker down and hope and wait until it passes.

The problem is you can't put a football club in a dry dock
You have to stay at sea whilst undertaking repairs

1) true supporters who care for their community and don’t mind having an expensive hobby
2) egotists who want to raise their profile or own a trophy asset
3) crooks
4) people — almost always American — who think they can make a profit out of it, usually by selling to one of the above (Ipswich at the moment are one example)

The rationale thought process is to help the town, build a legacy and get everyone behind you .. sadly the truth is that football fans are the most irrational, knee jerk and impatient people on earth!
I dont think so I waited 30 years for The Oystons to bugga off. 😂

It's weird that people who've been incredibly successful in business continually invest in something apparently loses them money. And when other people come along and ask if they'd like a partner to share the burden and losses, they are very reluctant to accept them.

It’s a hobby, you don’t buy a football club to make any money.

As a fan of the sport it must be exciting planning new signings, training grounds, extensions to the ground, picking the kit, hiring managers etc etc.

Under the justification of wanting to help your community, there is a vast range of responsibilities that will be both challenging and exciting!

Depends who you are.
All the filthy, oil rich Sheikhs do it to show just how much money they've got,
Also to be recognised I suppose.
Shouldn't think that they are real football fans.
