What are they thinking?

During the king’s coronation, we will all be asked to swear allegiance to the king, in fa t its more than that, the exact wording is “All who so desire, in the Abbey and elsewhere, say together; I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors, according to law, so help me god. Apparently we should all say this out loud wherever we are.

Now I lived in Windsor for many years and saw the tourism impact the Royal family have, but it’s clear there’s a change in people’s opinion, especially younger people, so for me, this belongs in a long gone age.

I read this earlier.

It’s just incredible the lack of respect for ordinary people: it seems that we are all so stupid that we will centre our day around this fairyland bullshit.

I’m fine with the royals and their revenue, but are we really supposed to suspend disbelief that old sausage hands has any more than 15 years left? Idiotic.

We vote in MPs and they have to swear allegiance to the monarch. I have visited Westminster Abbey, an amazing building where all the monarchs since William the Conqueror crowned since 1067. We looked at the chair used for all those years and will be used again this time. Obviously it looks a bit worse for wear after coming up to a thousand years old and an American woman behind me said “the coronation chair is very disappointing “ I was tempted to point out our history against there’s but didn’t bother 🤷🏽‍♂️ Americans should be carefully vetted before being allowed to visit other shores

I’m not a huge fan of the monarchy. But they bring a lot of trade and tourism. Many countries are envious of the pomp, ceremony and tradition.

I don’t take the words quoted above literally. They are part of the ceremonial presentation. So I’d suggest there isn’t an issue here at all. It’s all how you look at it. It doesn’t bother me one bit.

Citizens sing the national Anthem. God save our gracious Queen/King. That’s another example where for most people it’s not literal. It’s not a prayer to God. It’s just words to the national Anthem.

Many people that sing it enthusiastically at an England football match for example, won’t be religious, or believe that by singing the words, God will listen and thereby save the King.

I suppose a few people will think “Oh how wonderful. What a tremendous and inclusive idea”.

A few more will get very, very cross at the very suggestion.

The vast majority will probably think “Seems antiquated and a bit daft. I certainly won’t be doing it. I’ve got more important things to worry about”.

Without checking I couldn’t even tell you what day the coronation is on. Saturday?

Don't get too bothered about the words folks the whole ceremony is a distraction to make you forget about your daily woes. There are plenty of potless cretins who fall for it.

God save the King(I reckon he’s not far off us👑)

Yeah they kill off a reigning Queen after about 45 years of rule and then crown their replacement to try and hoodwink us commoners. It’s all a conspiracy. I’m not sure why they waited 45 years but I suspect they could wait not longer cos never have people had so much, whilst wallowing in self-pity about how terrible their lives are in this country that much of the world’s population would love to live in.

We’ve now got a woke society of self-loathing miseries that think they’re owed something for doing very little but spouting about their victimhood.

Daily woes? Try accentuating the positive. You don’t know you’re born compared to our predecessors and much of the world who currently live in atrocious conditions.

What I don’t get is that old King Charlie is all for saving the planet and rightly so.

Then he invites thousands of people (including their staff) to fly from every corner of the globe for a day out.

I just see it as massive contradiction.

Queenie was great, but in this day and age to have a family born into wealth provided for by the commoner is a joke.

…and before anyone says they bring money in, so did the slave trade and that wasn’t right either!!!

We all used to stand for the national anthem when I was a child. It’s died out here but in some Countries they still observe this.

I am not his biggest fan for many reasons. Princess Anne is probably the only one I respect out of the current crop.

I think you’re missing the point. It’s us commoners who swear allegiance to the king who need to take action to save the planet, so that the king and all the other very important and rich people can carry on doing whatever they want without having to worry about any consequences to the planet.

It is a silly idea and one that Queen Elizabeth and previous monarchs didn't do. I am not a Republican but this smacks of treating us all as serfs and seems typical of the numpty Charles. He totally lacks any self-awareness and how he is really perceived by most of the public. A survey on breakfast TV a couple of days ago indicated that over 80% were against the idea. And I noticed the Palace back-tracked by including the words that you could do it 'if you so wished'.

That pillock was trying to save the planet long before it was fashionable to have a green stripe on your numberplate.

No, I think he was encouraging us minions to save the planet whilst driving around in, and amassing a £14m collection of gas guzzling cars, as well as flying all over the place.
I don’t think talking to plants and lecturing everyone else can be considered as saving the planet.

So like a lot more then! Yes point taken like all the World leaders flying around the World for a ‘jolly’.

Personally I Like King Charles.
A very honest and straight forward person.
I think he said something like, 'I'm not here for the people to serve me, I'm here to serve the people'.
Words to that effect anyway.
Much better than a tyrannical, one person state controller like a few nations still have.
Russia, China, North Korea etc etc
