What are we all doing today?

I’m thinking of heading to Abingdon street today as I’ve not seen it yet? Such a long time since I’ve been into town in the day time.

Is there anywhere new worth taking a look at whilst we are in the area? Like I said, it’s been years barring a couple of trips at night to the WG or the theatre.
Is it a pub crawl, shopping, food, attractions or a bit of all of them?
Houndshill for shopping the new Fraser's in the old Debenhams site is great.

Pubs well there are loads that have opened which are great Abingdon is a great start and round the corner Saoko for some great cocktails.
Country and Western music on Queen st.
Common bar.
Looking for a cheap pint Hogarth's on
Clifton st.

The prom worth a visit as Lala says above.

Food Abingdon for decent street food.

Cafés- Coffee Pot/Number 5(Blackpool fan who posts on here).
Hive lovely modern food.
Quilligans.

Take no notice of the haters our town is on the up after years of sod all being spent on it, so don't look at the bad as all areas have it but focus on the good-Prom,Winter Gardens, Houndshill,Cedar Square etc.

If you want free parking for 3 hours Sainsbury's let's you with no purchases needed.👍

At least we know who are probably the same people as on FB who moan about everything and ignore the good news.

Or the people who say not a bloody car park, then in another post say where are all these new people being brought into town meant to park.

What's the betting it's the same people who shout get it forward and if we go more direct they shout keep the ball.

They moan and have no intention of setting foot outside their front doors wherever they live some of them don't even attend BR.

Yes, opposite the Tower. It’s only a small set up but it’s something different.
Managed to do all. Went to Abingdon street - fair play to what they’ve done there, it reminds me of the street food place in Manchester with plenty of night time events on too.

Headed through the WG which looks all Christmasy and carols belting out and headed to Flannels in HH. I was amazed to see how busy they were. Is there a market for £800 Belstaff jackets in Blackpool?
Some nice gear in there though.

Then headed to the Prom for mulled wine

Of course there is population of the Fylde is nearly quarter of a million they all ain't skint.

Classic example of focusing on the poverty in the town(all have it) rather than the busy shops, restaurants, cafés,pubs and entertainment venues(not an attack on you Chunky by the way👍).

I've never seen a mucker in a jacket of less than a few hundred quid.😂

No offence taken.

It was no slur on the Gold Coast I was just wondering who their market was? The Lytham and Poulton lot with cash to burn that I know tend to head to Manchester for retail therapy not Blackpool.

Im guessing they’re hoping that Flannels will entice that crowd back to Blackpool and not to go to Mcr?

They have a Flannels in Preston.😜

Yesterday I was somewhat comatosed having celebrated mine n Mrs Wizzers joint 60th birthday.
Picked the 1st as its in the middle of mine and the Mrs birthdays.

Many thanks to @LivingTheSeasideDream for the recommendation of Lee, the DJ

Went into deepest Nobberville last night to celebrate a joint retirement with two lads who I served my time with. Got there @ 5 got home @ 9.30!!

I was absolutely goosed, in bed by 10 and eventually woke up @ 9 with a relatively clear head.
Thank god the game got called off!🤣
Sheesh, if I went into Depress-ton at 5, and did everything worth doing I'd be home by 5:25 considering it's a 10 minute drive

You can see with a lot of the improvements they want to bring something a bit more upmarket... particularly in the market.

It's maybe not for everyone, as some have monaed about losing the old style market, but a lot of what was in there was cheap tat, an image Blackpool is trying to move away from or at least offer another side to. It's definitely a cool place with some nice eateries and now some stalls and events on.

I can't imagine many younger people would shop at the old style markets, people like nicer things these days.

The 4 or 5 star hotels, some nice restaurants, things like Abingdon street market etc, that's trying to appeal to locals and tourists of maybe a bit higher class too, whilst there's always the cheaper side of accommodation and places if people want that side too.

But even amongst people not particularly well of there's a culture these days of wanting to go to nice places, somewhere trendy and have nice things.

Sometimes you might want a quick £1 burger from Higetts arcade and they're meant to be nice too, or you can go to nice restaurants.

That's the beauty of Blackpool and whats happening is it's beginning to cater for the other side.
