What do we think of the signings?

Cleared out one of two we won't miss, two experienced championship players in on loan and two (hopefully) promising kids in permanent. The Blackpool model in a nutshell.
Clearouts massively important, Byer's is a great signing as is Coulson, the 2 young lads, let's see how they get on. We have The Beast back now too, he's going to terrify a lot of defences and I hope he gets picked a front 2 of him and Rhodes or him and Joseph will be brilliant.

We needed a clear out and I'm not overly worried about anyone who has left. King Kenny is the only one but he had made it clear he wanted to go, so in that respect I'm fine with it.

In terms of in-comings, keeping Rhodes was the best deal we could do. Byers is a great replacement for Dougall. Coulson has done well in the games he's featured. I'll be honest I know very little about Finnigan and Sassi, I suspect they are ones for the future and are unlikely to feature too much this season.

Overall I'd say it's been a positive window.

A defender and a couple of midfielders… I’m happy with that. We’ve got enough goals in us I don’t think we need any more strikers just now. 🍊
The lad from Burnley won’t feature in the first team. The other isn’t fit following an ankle op.
Byers would have been a superb show of intent but we’ve only borrowed him for 3 months.
Coulson is no better than what we already had.
Underwhelming as has become the norm.Theres a lot of money somewhere from player sales. Anybody seen it?

And you don’t think that Byers maybe just maybe wanted a loan as it frees up his options in the summer as he is out of contract? Would also explain how we’ve possibly beaten off the likes of Barnsley who apparently put in a permanent offer (one which clearly SW would have preferred to take..)

I don't think we have borrowed Byers. He's out of contract in the summer so we're in the best place to sign him on a permanent with no fee in the summer, while not having to pay all his Championship wages. Win win.

I’m pleased overall.

Think we need to have to be patient (again, I know) in order to let players settle in to the system and the relocation.

Coulson looks to suit us better than Thompson. Byers is the ‘wow’ signing, I suppose. Keeping Rhodes was huge for us. Sassi is smart planning and Finnigan is your possible higher risk option.

He's maneuvred specifically to get a big payday in summer. I'd say it's highly optimistic to imagine that payday will be with Blackpool. Even if we do go up it'll be a difficult one to get done.

As with all loans, enjoy him while he's here.

Probably gone on electric bills ☹️

Quite happy with these signings
Coulson has done well since coming straight into the team
Byers I’m sure will fit straight in as dougall replacement with plenty of experience
The two younger lads maybe ones for the future both on 3+1 deals.

Interesting thought - will his performance here between now and summer affect his pricetag?

Yawn

His wages yes, no price tag as he'll be out of contract. If he does well for us he'll get better wage offers than we can offer in all probability.

For me it’s a better squad on the 1st Feb than when the window opened, there is some use of loans to help make an impact but I can’t recall us having successful seasons without, will Byers do ‘a Embleton’ and win the play off 2 years on the trot!?
We don’t know the mentality, commitment and development growth of those leaving such as Dale and Kenny but moreover Tharme / Oakley Booth but need to trust that others at the club do. Some have questions about Critch but few about his coaching and developing - if he sees Burnley and Southampton players as his next Casey and Morgan then I look forward to seeing them.
Let’s stop asking where transfer £££ goes, with very few sponsor exceptions there is only Sadler putting more than a few tenners a week into our club.

Dale was good business. Only played once in the last 2 months. Out of contract at the end of the season. Recouped some cash back for him.
Fee for Tharme = good business (behind Casey, Pennington, Ekpiteta, Connolly, Husband now Sassi)
Thompson - out on loan (won't get a game this season anyway)
TOB - not played. Warmed the bench the odd time.
Dougall - shame. Looks like he needed away. Cash received for him

Byers and Coulson - good pros. should improve training ground, changing room vibe and on the pitch too
Finnigan - unknown. Recovering from injury. May become another untapped gem like Albie
Sassi - unknown. Skipper of Burnley U23s so must have something about him

I would have liked one more in, but then, where? We seem covered everywhere now

Hang onto your seats for 17 cup finals (maybe a cup final too !! )

We are actually weaker

The 2 young lads have replaced fringe players Tharme and Oakley Booth and Byers has replaced Dougall

Nobody has replaced Dale
Tharme and Oakley Booth played a couple of league matches between them,so fringe is being generous and I expect the young lads to have more game time.
Byers is a short term solution, I think he wants to be heavily involved till May but then he will explore his options, so suits both parties.
Dale was about 3rd choice, so no need to replace him.
We brought in more players than I thought we would, and less to do in summer^

Coulson has.
No, he hasn't. Coulson has replaced Thompson.

There was a need to replace Dale as he was versatile and played very well when called upon this season. If Dembele and CJ get injured, we're short. Extremely short for a play off run. Really shocked we've added in the areas we have without looking up top.

Dale was in the side Thompson wasn't. Coulson is playing lwb, where Dale was playing.

He's replaced Thompson mate as a place in the squad, he hasn't replaced Dale. Dale can play in multiple positions, Coulson can't. Coulson is a wing back. Thompson is a wing back. Just because Neil decided to play people out of position massively is why you think that.

We are light 1 x an attacking option.

Bang on can't believe how stupid people are

Dale has never been a wing back until Critchley decided to throw him in there

Byers is good

The other two are unproven though and we don't have many attacking options now Dale has gone

So yeah to answer the OP

Average
Kouassi Beesley Rhodes Joseph Lavery is probably the most covered for forwards we have ever been. With the addition of Byers Morgan can move into Dembeles role if needed.
