What is 'The Blackpool Way' of playing?

BST in their column this week described the win against MK Dons as not being in the "Blackpool Way" of playing football. Is there such a thing? Aside from Ollie's era and maybe a bit of Larry when we were a decent attacking side, I can't say that we have had a way and actually in my years watching Blackpool, there's been a lot more turgid football than any other!

It was only a brief period in our modern history that we did play attractive, attacking football but I imagine the BST thing must be in reference to what Sadler laid out in his plan for the club - I think he actually used the term "the Blackpool way" when speaking of the style of attractive football he wants us to play under his stewardship.

I remember it being one of the reasons for the anti-Grayson movement, the football was dross and wasn't fulfilling the "clubs vision".

Yes that’s it Tangerine Peel 👍

Hopefully he sticks by that philosophy and vision for the long term. It will be a big help when we inevitably change managers in the future if we have a set system and way of playing.

I suppose we'd have to actually start playing "the Blackpool way" first though.

In my life time I’d say McMahon had us playing the right way, Larry was always a bit of a long ball merchant then Ollie obviously gave us the best football I’d ever seen.

This is how I envisage being a Blackpool way.

I do get where they're coming from though in terms of the "Blackpool way", I feel we captured the hearts of many football fans across the country, AND overseas in that Prem season - the official Premier League page posted a highlight reel of our top 10 goals on Facebook and names which were clearly foreign (African/Asian) were commenting on how they loved us that season. We clearly made a bloody impression, and if you were to ask random fans of others clubs what they know about Blackpool they'd most likely mention Holloway and the Prem season (alongside TANGERINE and STANLEY MATTHEWS).

I think what I'm trying to say is that Blackpool playing attacking, attractive football would be a prominent memory, certainly for us AND football fans in general, so attempting to recapture that again and play that style which not only we as Blackpool fans loved, but fans of others clubs loved to see is okay by me (it'd certainly be bizarre if I was opposed) and I imagine that must be what they mean by "THE BLACKPOOL WAY".

We have had success and failure playing in a number of different ways, a lot of the time there has been no discernible way!
To have a way you probably need continuity and a structured plan for the club, SS might introduce that but the Oystons definitely didn't have a vision of how we should play the game.

No such thing in terms of playing style yes the way the club is run,use youth, community or identity for example.

Interesting o/p actually as friends who I know (from throughout the leagues not just the Prem jolly boys) always say they look forward to playing Blackpool because it's always entertaining. I think certain clubs do have a way of playing and hopefully ours is the right way.

I'd describe as a adaptive and effective at the moment. Critchley likes to rotate and pick players and systems dependant on the opposition. There have been some excellent commanding performances, open attack minded games and others that are extremely technical in nullifying opposition.

It was described as this, started early season with the intent but drifted when results didn't come due to a brand new side more than anything not the style itself, although had to mix it up more, have seen a worrying slide away from control of the ball recently which has to improve as against better sides we will be punished eventually.
