What obsolete tech do you miss?

I was sorting through a lot of 35 mm slides yesterday and it made me realize that since switching to a digital SLR, I don't get the same satisfaction from my photography as I did with my old film SLR

Just interested to see how other people feel about changes to the technology in their own lives and hobbies?

Cameras in general, got boxes of photos on the loft and it's definitely more emotional than looking at photos on your computer or phone.

Can't think of anything I really miss apart from what's been said above, because all the old techy things have been superseded by something newer. I loved messing with my grandma's wind up record player with 78's & needle to diaphragm to horn. If nothing else it appealed to the engineer in me as a kid & helped me understand exactly how grooves equated to sound.

The video recorder. You used to easily be able to record a TV programme or film and keep it forever, and it would take 2 seconds to put on when you wanted to watch it.

Oddly, I'm the opposite with photos, partic the slides I used to take. Such a faff setting up a projector and getting them out of the right ;little plastic box. Just go on icloud and see anything I want.

Wouldn't argue that it was more of an art back in the day, and you were more careful because film and developing were costly.

For me, VHS video player, loved my worn out collection of old movies

The typewriter and of course the starring role fax used to play during transfer windows.

I love my music and use Deezer for streaming-amazing yo have a massive library of music on my phone .I no longer have record player, cassette player etc

There is something I miss about physical records ,cassettes - not sure what it is .I don't miss it yo the extent of changing

I await the posts ,it's ruining music and yhe artists get fk all

BS of course live music is thriving and bands earn way more from live music than they ever did in the past.
I've just paid £40 for Richard Hawley tickets in June - no massive artist but has nearly sold out Albert Hall, Manchester

I have recently been clearing some big boxes from the garage and loft and came across some interesting things. My old Russian Zenit TTL SLR camera bought in 1980 (which go for a few hundred quid now), my great aunts box Brownie camera from the 1930s, my Saitek Turbo Advanced Kaparov chess trainer 64 levels of difficulty (from the mid 1990s with original box and all pieces - tried that yesterday and is still brilliant), a 1930s model steam traction engine, my original Corgi 007 Aston Martin with ejector seat and machine guns. Should I start an antique shop 🤔

I had an old zenit SLR that I bought at college for 25 quid. Got stolen a few years ago. Also used to have a corgi 007 Aston Martin. Think I gave that away. Still got my old analogue synths from the eighties.
