Was his injury that bad that he'll retire or do we think he has another few seasons left in him and what level will he return to? Hope he doesn't sign for the Cods
I’d be amazed if he does anything but retire. He was open that his body was falling to bits before the injury so this surely will be the end of him as a footballer. Besides what club will want a 33 (or so) footballer who has been out injured for a year? Oh wait we have a tendency to go for thoseWas his injury that bad that he'll retire or do we think he has another few seasons left in him and what level will he return to? Hope he doesn't sign for the Cods
It seems optimistic but I believe the post op target was around November to be ready to step up to playing games. That might be a motivational target of course. He won't be back till next year so not sure who will have a punt on him
I reckon that's part right. We’ll sign him when he’s recovered and his goals and shithousey will help us win the league.
Yeah he did like coming out.... the sea.He will transition into a mermaid.
A GARY MADINE THREAD!!
He will go on to be king of the world
I hope he can stay in football. I don't actually know him or owt, but I am told he's absolutely rabidly interested in football and is actually very interesting to talk to about it and he's perceptive and thoughtful about the game. I'm also told he's an outstanding trainer and great day to day. A lot of the 'Madine squared up to such and such and walked out of training' stuff is literally the opposite of the reality.
There was a game in Lg 1 where we'd won and he was interviewed and he was unhappy because he didn't think we'd played well. He's got standards and he'll encourage other to meet them.
I hope he can find a role that he enjoys and I think, with his life and times behind him, he's probably got some wisdom and experience to share that would do young precocious players some good to hear. You also have to play with a brain if you're not very fast. What I liked about Madine was he was quite unconventional and I think that can sometimes mean you've had to hone your game as opposed to just play like a robot and thus, you've got something to offer in terms of ideas.
Charlie is in some ways a similar character and he's flying as a coach. He loves the game, his life has not been simple, he was a singular player who wasn't just out of the mould of generic players and he just enjoys being on the grass and working on football. I see a bit of Gaz in that too. I am told Charlie is genuinely very happy coaching. (I share a mutual friend with him)

Grant Ward has earned a new contract at Bristol Rovers so Madine is not finished yet with football but probably with us.He will probably be in a similar situation to Grant Ward last season, unless he decides to retire, he will stay at the club during his recovery and train with us when he's fully recovered. I think its the PFA who cover expenses etc for a period of time to enable this, possibly 6 months.
No one will give him a contract over the summer so if he wants to carry on playing that will probably be the best thing for him to get fit again and earn a contract either with us or elsewhere.
You "share" a mutual friend with him ?A GARY MADINE THREAD!!

You "share" a mutual friend with him ?
Sounds interesting. Care to share more info on this ? We dont judge on here. We live in liberal times an all that.
In a narrow field of the thing Gaz is good at, he is literally statistically verifiably one of the best players in the country at those things.I really hope an agreement is made to keep him. A fit Gaz in League 1 is a real weapon. If you want to carry a big man in this division then who better?

*That meme of Alan Partridge swinging a bag at the heads of the people sat at a table he is angry at*It's more of a "mutual carer" than a "mutual friend" so I'm told.
A lot of the 'Madine squared up to such and such and walked out of training' stuff is literally the opposite of the reality.
Maybe not on the training pitch or within the club, but has had numerous cases of doing so and has done time for it out in public.
The reason being - it was Critchley-deserved!Indeed. And he's older, uglier and minus a groin since those days.
I think the point is, Gary made mistakes. Big mistakes. He could easily have lost his career and been a pisshead telling you who he used to be.
He knuckled down and got himself back on track and appreciates being a footballer and it shows on the training ground according to the people I've spoken to who have witnessed it at close quarters.
There was a reason Critchley kept such an 'un-Critchley' player around.
As the factory you refer to is clearly in some state of disrepair, I can't see the application of a bit of glue is gonna make a deal of difference. Personally, I would recommend calling in the demolition men. Or am I missing the joke here? Never have been what you would call quick on the uptake...Glue Factory
I can honestly see him making a good recovery and playing for someone like Wrexham, possibly even moving on to being an actor later on & playing Ryan Reynolds sidekick in deadpool 3 & elbowing the bad guysA GARY MADINE THREAD!!

WHAT GOALS ?We’ll sign him when he’s recovered and his goals and shithousey will help us win the league.
I think he was one of the ones who was staying in the hotel, so his main home is elsewhere, probably in the NE would be my guess. He was obviously rated by Critchley and Critch certainly knows the value of having some character and experience in the dressing room. Madine himself seems to engage well with the fans and seems at home in these parts. I don’t know where he lives but if it’s local or within reasonable commute it would make sense for all involved for him to stay at BR and train and do his rehab until early 2024. A good opportunity for him to work on whatever coaching badges he fancies too if that’s where he sees his future.
Once recovered I’d expect him to get a short term deal wherever he does do his rehab. Age isn’t particularly relevant to the sort of player he is - particularly in the lower leagues. He’s a battering ram and even at 40 players like that can thrive in the lower divisions if used correctly. If he recovers and if he does so at Squires Gate I fully expect him to get a 6 month deal with option for another 12 at January time
That’s not happening. He’s goneHe will probably be in a similar situation to Grant Ward last season, unless he decides to retire, he will stay at the club during his recovery and train with us when he's fully recovered. Can aman not obsessively post about another man for a period of years anymore without someone making an off colour insinuation?
World's gone mad.
I know it was a joke. I was jokingly over reacting. It was only a joke, who will take over? Sonny?
