What would it take for Critchley to be sacked?

I'm one of Critchley's biggest detractors but to sack him would be foolish IMO. He needs to be more bold in his attacking strategy or the resentment from the support will grow. He also needs to get a sense of humility when he gets things wrong. Being pig headed is not a good trait.

Every time we lose a game the Critch haters have a field day.

Nobody wins every game. Yes we were poor in the first half yesterday but can take heart from the partial comeback. We had a terrible ref too.

Whatever problems there are with Critch he has turned round the insipid losing mentality of the Appleton/McCarthy era which is no mean feat.

It is early in the season and it’s important to stay in contention which we certainly are.

I don't want Critch sacked. I actually like him, he makes sense and I think he's a good coach and I like the idea of what he's trying to do to be more possession based. My issue with him is that we are playing and setting up and being far too cautious. I want him to allow our players to play especially in this league. We should go for it against everybody.
If he doesn't change then he will be let go not due to league position but due to fan discontent. You can't go against a whole fanbase especially when the performances are poor.

No, no one wins every game.
Portsmouth have drawn 5 out of 15 BUT WON the rest.
Even the likes of Oxford, Bolton and Posh who have all lost 3 matches have won more than Blackpool.
It's Blackpool's inability to turn the draws into wins that are irritating.
Some on here posting a lá Critchley saying oooh Exeter, Port Vale and Leyton were a settling in period, a time to gell. Anyone with half a brain knew that none of those sides were ever going to be at the summit of this season and any team worth their salt would have put them to the sword.
Critchley gives the opposition far too much respect and allows them to gain a foothold in games.
FFS, even with a 3 goal lead to the bottom of the table who hadn't scored more than 1 goal in a game, they tried their best to allow them back into a match that should have been firmly put to bed within 60 minutes🤬

As for being in contention, yes we are in contention. However wouldn't it be better if we were comfortably within the top 6?
The table is mirroring the majority of Blackpool's matches this season. Promising so much but fundamentaly falling just short.

Think the problem is, we're poor in nearly every game for either 1st or 2nd half, we just don't seem capable of playing for 90 mins..

In your opinion. The owner obviously disagrees otherwise he wouldn't have given him a top 6 budget and publicly confirmed it.

Little old Blackpool safely tucked away in League One is some of our fans' comfort blanket.
It's sport, there are no guarantees, if we start to play well and secure a playoff spot, maybe get to the final and narrowly lose, are you saying that Critchley should be sacked?
We did that with Allardyce, how many years did it take after he got sacked before we got promoted?
We should have kept him in the job and would possibly have gone up as champions the following season.
Peterborough had a disaster in the playoffs last season, they stuck with the manager and are very well placed this season.
I'm not staying Critchley must stay but not getting promoted shouldn’t be the only factor as to wether he keeps his job or not.

So because the owner has provided a top 6 budget that means that the owner will accept nothing other than promotion within the managers first season and if that isn't achieved then he'll be sacking the manager? You're making leaps in logic.

So not his first season like you said then.
This isn't a thread about how many seasons has Critchley been Blackpool Head Coach, do you think the only criteria as to him keeping his job is he gets sacked if we don't get promoted?

If we actually add in his first spell to now then it is even less reason to sack the manager?
Promotion, mid table Championship and then this season.

Nothing like patience and building from within is there? Now it’s “right you’ve had x games and we are not top of the league - next manager please”.
Who's said that?

We have a squad that is recognised by other managers for its quality and our budget is rumoured to be at least top six, where we are in the league is underwhelming and the consistency of the performances or inconsistency to be more honest is alarming.
I acknowledge we are still early season, but this squads lack of focus, lack of shape and lack of leadership from the manager is plain for all to see.

We are 7th and 6 points off 2nd after just a 1/3 of the season and we had an average transfer window where we didn’t recruit players we wanted in central midfield.

To even think about sacking the manager is mental. We need to pack this shit in. It’s mad.

just seen this on my newsfeed. Big Nigel Pearson sacked by Bristol City. Big club by anyone standards. JUST hold our nerve people . Sixteen head coaches this season.

At some point someone has to have more than a few months to build something. I wanted Appleton to get time, he didn't get it. That didn't work out.

Critchley wasn't my choice and elements of his style grate with me but he's a competent and capable man and sacking him randomly for being 7th or 9th in October or something like that would be a stupid act of self sabotage that would do absolutely nothing to sell us to the kind of young, forward thinking coaches we need in the future.

Critchley may or not be the Messiah reborn but we're stuck with him.

Only 3 get promoted.

Sacked? We are 7th ffs and have lost twice in 8 games. As usual, the no patience tic-toc generation have brains that can only hold a thought for a few seconds at a time. As for thinking things through, no chance. I do honestly think we are breeding thickos, how they will cope with life's various challenges will be a fun watch.

If this was Tik tok I’d be more forgiving as it would be teens who haven’t gained wisdom or experience.

However it’s here. Average age of poster is probably 55 if not 60. Staggering….

Would think Critchley has this season as a minimum, prob until January 2025 to show Sadler progress ?
Unless we lose 10 or so on the spin & fan power voices up in the ground ?
