What's the script with season tickets & distancing, etc?

Elderly relative due to renew season ticket but worried that there won't be spacing between people and that they won't wear masks etc.

What are the Covid safety measures for the new season, please?

Many thanks.

The end goal is for full stadiums. My understanding is no masks. The mitigation will probably be proof of 2 jabs or negative test going by the test events. As we know this can all change without much, if any, notice. I know an 82 year old STH that has decided, because of the virus situation, it’s not for him anymore. Very sad really after decades of supporting the club.

That it sad, but understandable, as there will likely still be some risk to those attending games if all seats are being used - even if concourse/toilets are avoided.

I would hope proof of jabs/negative test will be the absolute minimum requirement. I think some were assuming vacant rows and only every other seat being used at least for the time being.

Appreciate the situation might change. Tricky committing to a season ticket in the circumstances. She wants the Early Bird offer, though!

My daughter is going to the Tramlines festival on 23/25th July. Just heard it's on with no masks or social distancing but negative Lateral Flow test or proof of 2 x jabs needed to get in.

I assume your acquaintance has been double jabbed, if so the risk is very small. I am in the same age bracket and had no hesitation in renewing, as someone said the pinch points will be the concourse. If he arrives a little earlier than usual that should also be minimal risk. Just because masks may no longer be required he could wear one for his own peace of mind. Whilst I hope to live a while longer and I certainly wouldn’t wish to contract covid, I have decided however long I have left I have chosen quality over quantity. We can’t live our lives in constant fear or close confinement, tell him to renew and be dammed.👍

I have taken this view also. 👍 Life is precious and short - you don't appreciate this fully until later in life.

Everyone must take their own decision based on their assessment of the benefits and the risks,.

Contact the club and ask. Whenever ive needed anything they were most helpful at the ticket office even when they were employed by the rats.

The season doesn't start until the second week in August, by which time over 80% of the adult population should have been fully jabbed and even more had one jab. I have had both my jabs and will probably wear a mask for at least the first few games and certainly will not be hugging or shaking hands with others. I think it is all about managing risks, but you can't remove risks completely. The current evidence is that vaccines have mainly prevented hospitalisations and deaths, even if you get Covid. Most hospitalisations and deaths at the moment are from unvaccinated people.
We are just going have to manage living with Covid

I’m with you all the way.

I think most of us are like minded on this and want to get back to a form of normality looking at the comments. As Grumpy no more says it’s an individual decision. The problem for some is that they’ve been stuck in front of the TV News for the last 16 months with not much other input into their thinking which has made them quite fearful. The guy in question has been jabbed but not in the best of health to begin with. My hope is that in time everything settles down and he’ll be back.

The waft of cannabis from the North and South should rule out any common sense she has, so I would avoid or get one of the corporate boxes.

Sadly think this virus will be with us for some time and Andrew Marr wrote an interesting piece that he was quite ill with it despite being double jabbed. Personally I think being outside should be enough not to be too concerned but can imagine we’ll still see quite a lot in face masks at games.

Cheers guys. Ok so I went into the ticket office today. Spoke to an assistant there. No plans for any restrictions. No vacant rows or alternating seats. No requirement to wear masks. No having to provide proof of vaccinations or negative test.

Must admit I was taken aback. Many Euros matches have seen supporters spaced apart and even the full stadiums have had to prove they've been jabbed/had neg test, I think. To go to nothing at all...

Sure it's in the open air but you'll still be potentially at risk from those around you. Large number of cases linked to the Scotland England game, although of course only some of those might be from the actual seated positions. More could be from the travel down there, mixing in pubs, in accommodation etc.

Anyway, relative got her season ticket. She'll wear a decent mask and try to avoid toilets, concourse and touching her face etc and hope for the best.
