Where is the Yates money going?

Why is it that no money made from multiple million £ player sales ever seems to be reinvested in our playing side?

I can't think of it ever happening. I thought this time would be different. 4 million quid for Jerry and nothing.

Seems property development is more important. Again.

I’d be surprised if there aren’t a couple of strikers lined up (deals will probably happen closer to deadline) and a couple of wingers/wing backs.

Fair question, assuming it was 2.5m plus Joseph for Yates it is a tad bit concerning that we haven’t gone out to get someone yet.

Not all money received from transfers is made available for future transfers but I would’ve expected that AT LEAST £1,000,000 would be made available for transfers in this window.

Still time of course.

Still think we’ll see at least two more bodies in (hopefully a striker and wingback) before the window closes.

Was Sadler at the last two home games ? Anyone know ? If he was, you can only assume he cannot be happy with that attacking show and will see the need to invest … we live in hope

He was there for Port Vale but didn't see him at Orient.

I'm not sure his idea of attacking football is the same as mine. Judging by how we play and managers recruited under him and the managers known style of play he is safe not attacking

Probably going towards the big hole of money that this club is losing every week.
Did we not sit £900,000 in profit on last years accounts after player sales? Correct me if I’m wrong.

If this is the case, this should be re-invested again in the team especially after the Yates sale?

Or are we wanting to be top of the balance sheet league?

What we have on the pitch is the most important thing at the football club as everything else follows…

Sadler's ownership treads a familiar path.

Bank fat cheques (Bowler, Yates), spend little and rue a £7m relegation loss.

Add misplaced optimism in mad coach hires (Grayson, Appleton, McCarthy).

The same goes for Critchley 2.0, exposed as wanting at both QPR and Villa.

Assume he can repeat earlier success, with a squad inadequate for promotion.

And naive fans, who buy season tickets in thousands, despite attacking deficiency.

OP is correct, but didn’t we blow a good chunk on the striker from Swansea who’s the current occupant of the physio’s table?

Could possibly get Clarke Harris for around 2m as his contract up this season. Averages better than 0.5 a game over last 3 years, so guaranteed 20 goals & possibly promotion? Why not push boat out?
What price promotion?

Assuming we got in excess of £6 million for Critchley, Bowler and Yates I dont think its unreasonable to reinvest a proportion of that. Nobody expects the club to spend all of that figure but I would have thought at least a quarter could be reinvested. Presently the figure put back in is minimal and that isnt good enough. To be fair I have deliberately ignored the Joseph swap deal as none of us know the figure involved...even allowing a million for that (which I very much doubt) we are still well short. I do wonder where all the money has gone...please dont say day to day running of a football club because that is factored in when the club is purchased.

I’m not entirely sure we can be certain that some of this money has not already been spent as most of our signings, and we have had an few, appear to be presented as “Undisclosed fee”. I also thought our model also meant that some of the transfer fees received by the club was used to meet the short fall between income received and the wages, running costs and infrastructure investment ( ie £400,000 at Squires gate, new pitches at Bloomfield, planning and feasibility studies - training ground/ east stand - etc) I take your point though that some of the money raised should be reinvested in the team itself but I don’t have any facts to prove or disprove this is not already being done to a large extent.

I am sure SS being an astute and successful businessman did his due diligence. I’m also sure he didn’t buy the club expecting to make money, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to him that the club is losing money. He also should know an owner has to speculate to accumulate. It was through his own mistakes? with managerial appointments that the clubs income has fallen significantly this season, approximately £7million. None of those were our decisions, but apparently we have to bear our share by paying the same money for an inferior product.
