We ran this poll a few weeks ago before pre season and several signings, and the loss of Yates. So what do we think now with the season starting on Saturday?

In the previous poll results were

Top 2 16.5%
Playoffs 38.7%
7 - 12 35.6%
13 - 20 7.7%
Relegated 1.5%

Personally i think we are looking solid and organised, and probably good enough for the play offs with us having quite a few Championship players in defence and midfield, but short of the fire power required for automatic. Wont win enough games for top 2. But we may bring those players in during August so we can vote again when the window closes.

Was a lot more optimistic a few weeks ago. We need 3 more. One of which desperately needs to be a solid, experienced, out and out centre forward

Exactly what Voy says above!
At the moment, we're good enough for play-offs as we're only lacking the firepower to be a top team.
IF... we get two strikers in, THEN, I'd say we can win this league. 👍

Not had enough of a go I’m afraid, there’s still time but we’re seriously lacking up front and probably in the wide areas too and it’ll cost us. I think we’ll start well and then fade off like our Grayson 2.0 season

I haven't changed my mind from just outside the play offs but I look at it like this. We certainly won't be relegated but but I can't say with certainty we won't win it because we could with the right loans and signings. I long ago ceased trying to second guess Crichley.

As I’ve already said on another thread top 10 finish (7th-10th) for me as it is but get a proven striker and a big CB in to partner Marv and I could see us pushing for a top 6 spot.
It’s going to be a very tough league one this season lots of clubs are bringing in shed loads of players and some splashing the cash like there’s no tomorrow.

If we bring a decent striker or two in then I can see us reaching the play-offs. If not, then mid table.

Edit: Come on Beesley, prove most of us wrong.

6 weeks ago about 55% predicted top 6. This time round is more like 80%. Is it down to signings, Critchley, or pre season performances? Or a bit of everything i guess? Maybe getting the relegation feelings out of our systems? I voted playoffs both times tbh. If we get quality attacking loans in I'll maybe brave a prediction of top two at the end of the window.

After an initial surge of pre season optimism I’ve settled back to giving it several games before deciding. How will the team perform against fully committed opposition? Unknown. How well will Joseph do? If he manages to appear. We seem well prepared this season compared to previous seasons but Saturday will be the first real pointer. Can’t wait. Come on you pool.

We have 3 stikers plus Dale, CJ and Apter

I think we need a left centre half and a skillful creative player more than a stiker

Joseph is a good player at this level who is young enough to improve and I think Lavery will be our top scorer

I wouldn't expect many more signings to be honest

I want what I always want and that's promotion, top 2 is a possibility if we can create enough chances as defensively we look solid as is the Critchley way

Agree with that. Two players in, maybe loanees, at LCH and someone behind the front man and we'll be flying.

2-3 more quality signings of the Norburn ilk and we'd be a top 2 contender. But as per usual, we're under doing it.

I'd say 12th-8th as it stands if we're trotting CJ out at LWB. And Husband at LCB

Thompson should be the left wing back and I think he will be

I dont get this hatred towards him

He started well for us just lost confidence lack the rest of the team

He will come good

Often the loan deals are at the end of the window once the big boys have finalised their squads.

All teams at our level will be going into the first 4 or so games under cooked and still needing players in. For once our gaps will be in fire power so if Shayne is fit we can start those games solid enough to not lose and with chances to counter attack at real pace.

I’m confident we are the best prepared we have been since SS took over. It’s unrealistic to think we’d have the final squad at this stage. Even Man City aren’t there with 9 days to their season kicking off

I think we need someone to play up front who is more physical and more experienced, and can hold the ball up and lay it off. And score goals... 🤔

Do we know Joseph is good enough tho have we actually seen him play ?? We don’t actually know until we see evidence !!
Yes he’s played a fair few games but some of them were few minutes here and there Iv heard mixed reviews about him hoping he’s good for us to be honest I’m
Not holding out

It’s a team full of players with recent Championship experience. We didn’t have that last time so surely it puts us at an advantage.

We have a manager who can set us up tactically to get points against teams at the top of the table and we’re expecting a few players to step up and shine this season too.

Couple more signings to come in as well. Don’t think we’ve ever started a league one season so prepared.

Top 2.

We got some solid signings like Pennington & Norburn done early doors. There will be more to come, people need to stop bed wetting.

Lavery is going to have a good season and I have high hopes for Joseph when fit.

No squad is ever complete by first game and the window is open a few more weeks yet by then we will be looking stronger I am sure.

Agree. We've got players who under performed last season in the Championship, like Marv and Dougall, dropping down a division and reunited with the manager who got them playing well individually and in a unit.

We've added Pennington, Norburn and Morgan. Trybull is still here. The likes of Carey and Lyons should really grow in stature at L1 level. We have a pretty good keeper in Grimmy who wasn't phased in the Championship.

We don't have attacking wide players you want to start games other than Lyons really. Gabriel when/if fit. Others need to prove they can perform consistently - CJ, Dale and Thompson. Morgan can play wide apparently but won't, yet at least. Up top we've currently got one clear option and we need at least one more.

Areas to strengthen are striker, width and left side of defence, in the ideal world. I believe we will improve at least two of those 3 things this month.

As much as I love the play offs id rather give them a swerve this time and do it automatically. Let another team have some glory at Wembley.
