Who Critchley will need

I posted this a while ago. We’re definitely going to need a lot of midfield recruitment as we’ve been lacking in that department for years. We could do with some quality on the wings as well.

As for specific personnel, I think Taylor Moore and Jordan graham have just been released from their clubs and could be very good additions.

Any thoughts?

Nice one! If Critchley goes with 442 then Beesley might partner Yates. Quite a bit of recruitment to do. I hope that we find some released gems again from Premier League clubs. That's how we got Bowler, Grimshaw and Connolly. There will be players that will never be good enough for the likes of Liverpool or United and get released, but they could tear up League One or the Championship.

If Yates is sold for £4m that’s quite a war chest for this level. Can’t see fiorini or Rogers ever playing for city so if we can get those two on a permanent that’ll be fantastic

Yes, but big boots to fill. Not easy finding a striker who can score 20 goals a season. The money has to be reinvested too. We got money for Bowler and when Critchley left. Probably around 5 million altogether. That money hasn't ever been reinvested into the squad.

If our wage bill was 12m last season it probably was. Ticket sales don't get anywhere near that amount.

There are other sources of income, TV money, sponsorships etc.

Also, investment is the key word. You invest in the hope that the money comes back, plus more. Had we bought two £1 million pound players, for example, that might have been the difference between us going down and staying up. We have lost more than that with relegation.

Our wage bill will be miles less this season, all the highest earners are gone apart from a couple and I can't see Jerry staying plus we should still have the Quitchley compo and the Bowler money.
I think a lot of that cash will have gone on severance payments to ex employees

You've not really understood me. I'm saying theres a gap between non transfer income and our wage bill so transfer profits will quite likely have helped make up the wage bill last season.

You could well be right, but apart from loans we spent fuck all on transfers last season. We have to spend some money this summer.

We have had very little quality (in fact a load of shite) from Liverpool over the years. On the other hand Everton have sent us Jason Kearton, John Hills, Jamie Milligan, Seamus Coleman, Keith Southern, Callum Connolly, Ellis Simms, Josh Bowler etc
Some bloody good lads there - a team with all of them in it would be great!!

It's not who Critchley will need but it's what he will need. He's a man in his 40's and therefore his personality is pretty well established and unalterable. He has shown an alarming lack of honesty and loyalty which despite numerous opportunities to explain his departure from BFC, he didn't bother to take. Why didn't he take any opportunity to set the record 'straight'? I can only guess that he didn't give a monkey's and that once we were a tiny dot in the rear view mirror he just carried on the road he'd decided to take. Critchley is a good coach but is NOT a leader who is going to inspire loyalty and devotion because he doesn't have those qualities himself. Leaving as he did the first time around was not an aberration, it is who the man is and will always be.
