Just seen the guy walking down the prom who always used to hold an old radio up to his head at the games at the side of the south paddock listening to the commentary on radio Lancashire and we used to ask him the Preston score and he’d say “the bastards are getting beat again. Massive stato too.

he looks like he’s moved up in the world to a huge DAB now, I wonder if he’s heard of radio apps on phones and headphones ha ha

what staunch retro superstar

Remember going up to a few people that were listening to the radio to ask them how nearly every team were going on. Think I know who you mean.

I will always know him as George Best.

Top stato as mentioned above, ask him the score in a certain match and he wouldn't just give you the latest score, he'd also tell you that there was still a fair way to go in that game because it was delayed when Joe Bloggs was seriously injured in the first half.

A BFC legend.

There used to be a lot of characters at Pool games as I remember , ,Graham ,,,with plastic bag ,,,making notes on all the games ,,,RIP ,,,there was the guy with the radio ,,,and the lads with the trumpet and drums,,,wonder what became of those lads ,,,

Are we talking about the bearded radio man?
If so, I've seen him marching around little bispham/norbreck numerous times, with radio. What made me smile, had a beard for donkeys years. When they became fashionable 2 or 3 years back he suddenly shaved his off 🤣

Ye always used to see him on fleetwood road near norbreck school field marching towards bispham, with his radio in hand obviously 😉 he was always on the gazette action pictures in the background stood outside the south paddock snack bar👍🏻

You'd hear him say something like "East Fife are 3-0 up away at Brechin, they've only won once there since 1978."

Sat behind him one day in the North about 15years ago. Thing's were moving about in his hair 🤣

I've heard some tried to talk to him, but hed tune out rather easily, ideas above his station.

He couldn't enter the ground until he'd got the signal.

He gets discussed on here at least once a year. There'll come a point in time when we (sadly) all get to know his real name. Up there with Graham and Little Pip as one of our most iconic fans.

Will always remember the lad on the kop 70’s. Combat jacket white motorcycle helmet. When the rock throwing started over the fence helmet on laughing and chucking 😀👍

I was at Bispham Tech(thats what we called it ) at same time as Graham ,he was proper die hard Tangerine, at first a bit frosty as some knobhead I was with took the piss ,later had a good rapport but only one subject...

Remember the " motorcycle nutter" as we labeled him. Can vaguely remember him piling off a Fylde Borough coach with others to actively discourage a large contingent of Hull City fans to return to the other side of Hartshead Moor services.

The days before internet and mobile phones. He was the only way to keep up with the latest scores.

Good point.

I'm not blaming Chris Hull but once I was leaving the ground and he was reading out the final - or supposedly almost final - scores and he said it was Arsenal 1 Sheffield Wednesday 1.

When I got home, I found out that Arsenal had won 7-1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember a middle aged short Italian geezer in the West Paddock in the 70's who liked to pace around and shout " Comma ona Blackpool" and " No why you didda that!" if a player made a mistake.

We remember him. He used to walk our route back to Bispham when we lived there - he strides out like an olympic speed walker!

I used to walk behind him going way off my route just to check my fixed odds results. Invariably the last one would go down.

Alex lives just off the prom near Bispham. That’s probably why he’s spotted so often. Often in anchorsholme library. Proper character

Certainly remember Radio Man in the South Paddock, Graham and the Programme seller....and he did get some grief poor lad.
