Who was the manager when you went to your first match?

Another one for Stan Mortensen but in all honesty I don’t remember much about him as he only managed for one season. I vaguely remember it was a night match and we played Blackburn Rovers. Don’t remember the score though.
And there are a whole list since then.
Just done a quick search and believe it or not but Dobbie is the only one with a 50% win record, albeit after 6 games but hey, get him in full time and help him better that record.

Ron Suart 1964 v Everton , just moved down from jockland , mum and dad bought a guest house on Woodfield Rd .
Wilf Dixon was trainer in those days , was on schoolboy forms then , top man Wilf taught us how to kick a ball properly , head it properly , tackle properly . Could do with him around now . Happy days .

Bob Stokoe, 3/4/71. Top Division. BFC 0 Newcastle United 1 crowd 14000, then 12/4/71 BFC 0 Spurs 0 crowd 16000.

But the most influential manager of recent times is Steve McMahon.

Ron Suart for my first match, but only once.

Morty when I started going regularly every week (yes, Central League matches too - sat on the Kop wall with my mates chatting to Kevin Thomas RIP.)

Ron Suart. There, I've shown my age.

The unusual situation in those days was that (pretty much) nobody ever got sacked. Growing up, I could name all the Lancashire teams managers for years; Andy Beattie - PKE. Harry Potts - Burnley, Jack Marshall - t'Rovers, Bill Ridding - Bolton to name but a few. Times have changed that's for sure.
