Needs the longest amount of time over this close season to prepare their side for when we kick off in August. Don’t give them a handicap by delaying an announcement/appointmemt Simon!!

It's already overdue and we are now behind schedule! 🤔🤞🧡

The players are on their holidays and won't be back for another month.
Makes sense, although I guess the successful candidate could be announced now, but will be starting his contract in a few weeks. I imagine he would want to be in place before the players return so he can familiarise himself with the club, facilities and his back room team.

We are not in the dark age, players can easily be contacted where ever they are in the world. Deals have already been done and a few already announced. Some will be ongoing now, but without a manager and a sporting director we have been left at the post!

Hopefully it’s Critchley - it’ll mean there’s less time needed to assess the squad as he’ll largely know what he’s got to work with and what they’re capable of. He’ll only need to get know a few players. It’ll work well the other way too as the players will know the style and tactics hopefully. Critchley really does make the most sense for so many reasons.

I would like to think if they have made a decision and they are waiting on this Downes bloke then there is a Hell of a lot of work going on behind the scenes.

Whoever we appoint, the fans need to get a ** grip of themselves and reset OUR mentality. We aren't the knobbers moaning about ** everything all the time. This forum does but it's extended to the stands.

Unwavering support is what separates us from those pricks down the road and we need to try and get back to that.

But it's the time of the year their agents don't go on holiday and they are only a phone call away wherever they are in the world.

Most deals won't get finalized until late June earliest, and that's for the out-of-contract players, technically they can't even start talking to other clubs until 1 June.

I'm sure the recruitment process isn't coming to a halt just because there isn't a permanent manager in place, the existing staff will be identifying targets, and no doubt making initial enquiries to the agents, so long as the situation is sorted within the next couple of weeks we should be fine.

It's time to support who ever comes in and takes the job as long as they don't have a Nob End background.
TBH the Knobbers connection with Appleton was the least thing I worried about when he was appointed. Just like Tony Ellis, Brett, Parkinson & others.

I really don't care who is appointed, just as long as they get decent results on the pitch and are building a team to compete.

I backed Appleton when he arrived, but he could have had PNE tattooed on his todger (Everyone knows PNE is short for Penis) but I wouldn't care.
If were playing decent football and winning games.............and Bloomfield is rocking....were 95% there
But it's apparent when it's not the right person......
Natalie Cole appeared to be the right person but money (lots of money) and Gerrard pulled him away.....

He may need to apologise to the Muckers in person.....but I would be happy(ish) to see him back...I think?

Presume if you haven't had your contract renewed you can and there's some decent players out there who better organised clubs will have already approached.
I think that's at the discretion of the club, but presumably they would give permission for released players to talk to other clubs.

Who's to say that we're not making approaches as well? We still have Dobbie in charge, we still have a chief scout, and Saddler seems to be taking more of a hands-on role, there's plenty of people at the club who can be making preliminary contact with agents to make our interest known.

Or should that be, '... refamiliarise himself...'? That assuming, of course, that it is Critchley, and that it is a man - for the benefit of the PC brigade! Don't want to be accused of being sexist - I think we've been through enough internal strife, don't you?

I did consider the man/woman/they/them etc, issue, and thought sod it.
