Why cant we have a cup run? Just once

Yet another disappointing end to our involvement in a cup competition. Why can't we ever have a cup run in either the League cup or FA Cup. I'm 60 in a few months, and have watched Blackpool since 1966, and I have never seen us reach a quarter final in either of these competitions.

In that time I have seen so many lower league teams reach the later rounds, chesterfield, Lincoln, Burton etc, so why oh why can't we do it just once. I'm sick of how shit we are in cups.

Ironically ,if we get to semis, we win them. We are 3 for 3 in the FA cup, and our play-off record, where we go straight into the semis is brilliant. Just once before I pop my clogs, I would love to see us have a cup run.

So frustrated tonight, because if we had made our substitutions on 55 minutes, instead of 75 minutes, we would have won that easily.

I definitely share the frustration. Our record in the league cup especially is dire in the last 25 years. However, when you've just been promoted I think it's the right thing to protect your best players for the league because it's so important we stay up. I think if we can just establish ourselves in this league, you may just get your wish.

We’ve had a few respectable cup runs on recent enough years
 
Personally, I think it's all a load of boloney resting players for the cup games. I think that winning breeds confidence, and I cant think of many examples where a good cup run has cost a team in terms of league position. Wigan in the FA cup probably being an exception. I think there are many other examples where a good cup run has increased competition for places and led to improved league performance.

I also think that if teams continually take the mickey out of fans in cup competitions, and should either provide free transport, or money back if they field sub standard teams. CAn you imagine how Bournemouth fans feel tonight if they have travelled to Norwich to get spanked 6-0?

The good runs must have passed me by. Since 1973, we have reached the FA Cup 5th round twice, in 1989/90 and 2011/12, and reached the League cup 4th round twice 2018/19 and 2007/8. that's nearly 50 years of frustration
 
Plenty of teams have got to cup finals over the years & been relegated so cheer up, the last thing we want is an open top bus parading around town with Jerry drinking lager from the lid, whilst critch draws up his list of league one players for next season!

5th round against QPR was exciting as a youngster; wuz robbed in that really; surely the second replay should have been at Bloomfield!!
 
It’s a good job they brought in the play offs. They provide the adrenaline for our seasons. Christ it would have been boring otherwis.
 
No one looks or bothers with the League Cup. Can't say I've ever watched a League Cup game before the final unless we've been in it. Keep our powder dry for the FA Cup - that's where the money and prestige is.
 
I am disappointed myself. A 2nd tier club can go a fair way in to the cup competition's. Not us, This time. When you look at the draw for the next round, It should have happened. Never mind. FA cup to come. League here we go.
 
Not this season just want to cement championship status.Cup runs are great to keep the whole squad sharp when you’re going for promotion.Seen it loads of times the two go hand in hand and help your overall form imo.Just don’t often see it work for sides in relegation scraps.
