Why does the media love Yorkshire?

Just put the TV on and it’s Yorkshire bloody firefighters now. Is it the only place with a fire brigade?

And I turn over and it’s Emmerdale Farm. I give up...
I’ve just booked a road trip to Durham 😆 with a stay over at a Yorkshire farm just off the A66 near Barnard Castle on the way back 😊
I am beyond excited ☺️

yorkshire isn't a county, it's a brand and it's sold as such.

we are much funnier for a start and have better sunsets, so there.🙂
Sunrises surely, not sunsets... or was that meant to be funny?
Edit: initially read that thinking you were from Yorkshire but since seen other posts showing otherwise!

50s - yes absolutely. The Tetleys in the Social Centre back when i was first partaking circa 83-85, was quite unlike any I've had since. Lovely taste, it was even a different colour.

Last time I played on the dark side, about 8 years ago, I was looking forward to having a decent one finally. And it was the same as here. I didn't know about the water thing.

Might take a bucket with me Sunday and drop it off at the brewery.
Don't bother with the bucket, the Brewery is closed. much like Boddingtons in Manchester, now brewed elsewhere, it's called progress.

I had a couple of pubs with Samuel Websters of Halifax, who were taken over by Watneys and then Grand Metropolitan, they decided to close the Halifax Brewery, which is now long gone, and said with their chemists they could make the water where it was going to be brewed the same as that from the well in Halifax. It didn't work and a decent brewery and its beers were lost.

Footnote: It's a myth that Hull is in Yorkshire, it's not. But they still like to think they are. 'ow coom?

I love Lancashire immensely and that's a beautiful picture. I was up in the forest of Bowland myself all weekend.

But it doesn't have the rolling fells and picture postcard beauty of North Yorkshire. I hate to say that put it's fact.

Yeah, fair - it was the 'far more beautiful' that irked me. Had to make my case!

By the way is that up Parlick or Fairsnape with Beacon Fell on the left?

It's on the trail between Parlick and Fairsnape - good spot.

Thanks Curryman, I've often wondered what the full story was and what happened to it. So even in Yorkshire it's not the drink it used to be now?

Be careful on that Root-66, Lala, it can be a dangerous track and a big test of your driving skills, especially if it's raining or the light is bad!👌🙂

I used to fly over there once a fortnight or so visiting my coworkers in Newcastle. Was always an early morning jaunt though and reasonably quiet and used to make a mandatory stop at a truck stop for a bacon barm and cuppa tea 😆

Yes, it can set off a bit of adrenaline the Route 66 stretch but I will be careful 👍
The farm stop stay over on the way back is at Brignall, just off the main A66.
Getting some new wellies tomorrow and am pondering a Yorkshire flat cap too, just to wind Straighters up ☺️

Aye, it can be a bit hair-raising at times😱 I used to do regular trips over to Longbenton and Durham House, back in the day when I was an IT lad!😃

just wondering exactly what a 'yorkshire flat cap' is? is it the same as a lancashire one but a lot tighter? 😀
