Why no friendly with AFC Blackpool

The title says it all really no offence to Squires Gate but AFC I always feel are more Blackpool related with the name and kit. Why are we not trying to help them also with a friendly.

We have a fair few local non-League clubs around the area, even Poulton, Lytham Town, Wyre Villa etc.

The game at Gate is down as a Blackpool XI so presumably will be similar to what Fleetwood have done before in their preseason friendlies at Gate and be a mix of youth and fringe squad players.

Would be a nice touch to help all three Blackpool clubs at some point, including Wren Rovers too. With youth/reserve teams playing maybe.

Fair comment I would like us to support all local non league clubs even a small crowd could bring much needed funds in.

It could be suggested in an SD meeting but this was suppose to be last month. It needs suggesting that they could alternate between the three each season. With regards to AFC maybe do a big send off for their last game before they move ground to smash their current attendance record of 510? Or do this for the first game in their new ground? Either or let's get it filled for them.

Fair point, as all local clubs deserve the support as much as any others. But Gate & Blackpool have been working together over the second half of last season with Blackpool using Gate’s ground to train quite often, with links between management & staff growing and improving, thus resulting in this friendly. It’d be cool to see a little pre season tournament with Blackpool against likes of gate, afc, wrens etc.

I think they were moving more towards the st Anne's side of the fields Blackpool Road area maybe?
Aye, having seen the latest plans the other day, there is a facility on it, that looks similar to a scaled down version of Poolfoot Farm. One main building, with all facilities and some sort of viewing area, then the pitch, surrounded by high fencing. Presumably it's there. Doesn't look like it has the feel of a football stadium about it sadly.

Makes sense i suppose to invite possible trouble to the town in the shape of Rangers and Burnley rather than supporting a local non league club.

I’m sure in the latest plans afc Blackpool are staying out where they are.The new pitches nearer to the runway are for general Sunday teams together with an all weather pitch and changing rooms with a terrace for viewing .Plus big car park

We're staying put at Jepson Way. We had spoke about moving to the new ground but after plans had been revised it was found that they wouldn't have to demolish the ground as first thought, just our warm up/juniors area at the front of the ground.

Good question, we had asked but couldn't get something worked out in time. We have a really good relationship with the club, hopefully we can get something sorted next year!

Shame all round really with the revised plans, as it would surely have benefited the club with new facilities for players and spectators

Can never understand why the level of football at SG and Afc is not a lot higher. Pay at the top sunday club quilligans and other names must of been a lot higher, how much do highfield social pay currently.

No doubt it would never happen, but it would probably be better if both clubs merged and Wren Rovers, to form one stronger club that might challenge higher up the pyramid.
