Why you first started watching Blackpool FC

I was desperate to go to Bloomfield Rd. It wasn't a matter of which team I was to support, just when I could go. The only football clubs in conversation were Blackpool, Man Utd and Man City. That was only because my maternal grandmother's family was from Heald Green in Cheshire.

Living in Blackpool, my mum her sister and brother were all Blackpool. My Grandad was a bricklayer who worked on the South stand terracing. Joe Smith met my Grandad working on the job and gave him a season ticket. There was never going to be any other team for me.

My Dad started taking me to Bloomfield Road when I was 6 at the start of the 69/70 season (then Fish & Chips at The Cottage for tea and off to Blackpool Ice Drome to watch Blackpool Seagulls.) My first away game was Dumpdale at the end of that season (hence the username) and Fred Pickering's Hat Trick turned my blood Tangerine.

At Turf Moor in 1958,i liked the colour of the shirts, and it just stayed with me through my childhood.Mydad wasn’t overjoyed with his nearly 5 yr old son cheering on the enemy(happened more than once over the years).

Got taken to a 4th round FA cup game V Mansfield in Jan 1970 in the Promotion season back to Div 1, we lost 2-0 of course 🤣

Went to my first game in 1974 with dad, my older brother, my uncle and Ellis Tomlinson who was a family friend. I was hooked and have had a season ticket every year since except for ‘86-‘87 when I went to ‘Oz for a year. My over-riding memory when I was younger is of Ellis (who sat with us) bellowing, “FORWARD!” at whoever he thought was slacking at the time 😀

Family moved to Lytham Rd South shore in 1972. Could hear the roar from Bloomfield Rd, Sat afternoons and some Tues evenings and wanted to know what it was all about.

Great Uncle was connected with the club... had a BnB on Bloomfield Rd and was where a lot of out of town YTS lads boarded....

he took me and my cousin when we were crap in the old division 4 ... we would leave just before full time and leg it the guest house to get the final scores ...

My grandad was a Pool supporter and he took me to my first match in 1971. I remember looking at all his programmes from the late 40s and 50s, which mesmorised me as a young lad.
