Will Simon act in time... or not?

Not an advocate of wanting people to lose their jobs but if Simon had acted a few weeks earlier in sacking Mick McCarthy, we might still be playing Championship football. We have a Championship squad, Championship facilities, many pundits shout out for automatic promotion but a manager who has no idea how to get us back to the Championship without an experienced No 2 holding his hand. Today's footballing lesson from Cambridge UTD just shows how disjointed our season is, and the absolute inability we seemingly have in doing anything about it..

Sadly we're now at an impasse where Simon needs to:

A) get Critch some help

or

B) Bring in someone who knows what their doing, because today could be Rhodes' last game, and take away his goals/goal threat and we'd be languishing low/mid table at best..

The problem with him acting though is that he gets it wrong when he does. To say I have any faith whatsoever in us appointing a decent manager if we sacked him is an understatement. What the board need to do is decide who they absolutely don't want and appoint them. Least we'd end up with the Evatts or Wellens of this world then rather than the McCarthys.

1, we don't have a championship squad.
2, or facilities.
3, or manager.

Mr Saddler however IS a Championship chairman/owner who is currently being let down by the manager and the squad.

Today's performance was clumsy and disjointed and our team is nowhere near being a promotion challenger.

OK. I’m gonna say it.
We don’t have a championship squad at all. Just because some of our fans are blind to this it doesn’t mean it is the case.

A sacking isn't even close - we're a couple of wins or so from the play off zone (give or take).
But is NC a talent or just a charlatan?
His tactics, boring football, and reluctance to change annoy so many.
When interviewed, he sounds almost educationally sub-normal.
Is he a winner or loser? .... The jury's out.

A sacking isn't close but it should be.

I’m sure Lowe will be available soon but do we want him?

We kept Applehead far too long and we got relegated.

Keep this clown any longer and kiss goodbye to any play off hopes.

Ps
We’re not good enough by the way for the play-offs so makes no difference to me.
Whilst I agree with a lot of what you say, I disagree that we are not good enough to make the po's. We are imo. Problem is how the team are set up and the selection. CC is great as a stand in for a couple of games, but he's no regular. If you are to play the formation that we do then select the best people for the job. The defence looked like they'd never even trained together.

The long ball isn't working either. I know to mix it up would be the reply, but it just gives the ball away. How many times was it pass, pass, pass and Hubby sends a ball to nobody. We seem to do that against the lesser teams more it seems...perhaps I'm wrong there.

Applecart should have gone after the Wigan away game just before the WC then a new manager would have had a month with the players and a transfer window.

A championship squad ????

Lat week we win everything all good and cant praise him enough, we lose a a game this week and then he should be sacked rubbish squad etc etc

Talk about going from game to game, he will never win good or bad
If you take this boards sentiment as a whole, yes it appears to swing back and forth.

But if you actually look at the posters, you’ll see droves who only post when we lose. There are probably 20 separate posters on here who can only get fully erect when thinking about how angry Critchley makes them — and can’t wait to start smashing their one-handed opinions into the keyboard.

Thankfully there are plenty of quite placid fans who actually understand you don’t win every game. C’est la vie.

You mean people who are easily pleased to accept second best?

The irony is if we’d stuck with Big Mick we’d be in the top two now. He’s been a massive letdown second time round Critchley. This nonsense of playing players on the wrong side, the lack of urgency in our play, sticking in plodders like Beesley Norburn Connolly it’s all so depressing. In a bang average division if we attacked it and tried to win games from the start we’d be too 3 comfortably now with the players we have.

Too early for a potting.
I really think we'll make the play offs - but we might also just scrape survival - that's life as a BFC fan.
Never straightforward - but we'd be bored shitless if it was.

We have to be one of the most reactionary fan bases in the league. I mean, we laugh at PKE for loving Lowe one week and then want him out the next, yet some here are just as bad. I dont agree with the tactics and think we needed the subs made earlier. Critch also does my head in with the starting 11 most games, but we still have over half a season to go yet and we are right in the mix. Let's also remember that we are chronically shit over the festive period, I can't remember the last time I've been a happy football fan at Christmas. So we have that to look forward to as well.

I don't think Critch is a bad coach, quite the opposite actually.
What I do think is that he is stubborn and unwilling to accept this formation with these players doesn't work. Add on that it's not what most fans want to see and it translates into pissed off fans. It seems so simple to say go to a 4231 formation with these players and things will get better quickly but I actually think things would. I don't think this wildly indifferent play can continue against let's be honest here, pretty sh1te teams.

A championship squad ????
Yeh i'm always fascinated by these views. I get that you have biases - it's a Blackpool forum afterall, but i'd love to see fans create a team based off players from the top 6 (ok top 8 😅 ). How many of your own players would you REALLY pick when given the context of the clubs around you?

I'd say you're a Seasider at heart.
Demebele & maybe Rhodes. Both on loan sadly.

As I said months ago Christmas is an appropriate time to take stock. One question only and apt seeing as the town motto is progress. Are we making enough to be in the play offs? If not then get him out and mowbray in. Part of the problem is Sadler is still growing into being an owner.

I'd say Rhodes, Dembele, Pennington and Dougall would walk into any team in the league right now. So thats 4 imo.

Our “championship squad” that was comfortably the worst in the championship last season over 46 games.

I personally would pick very few, in fact I would get rid of quite a few. I appreciate that all managers have their favourites, but Critchley is loyal to the point of stupidity at times. He continues to select certain players no matter how badly they perform. As was mentioned by an earlier poster, one his faults is complete and utter stubbornness. He’s determined to prove he’s right even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Pennington and Dougall don’t “walk into any team in the league” at all. They are good players and very important for us but other teams also have very good defenders and midfielders.
Yeh I'd go with this, when you look at the other midfielders and defenders in this league then they don't get in

Unfortunately Critchley gets out fought by other managers most weeks. They change things if things are not going right and a lot of the time it works.
We don’t seem too usually and if we do it’s too late. He just can’t seem to adjust to what’s happening, he sticks with the same players they lose confidence and hey ho we get beat by a lowly team again. It was a mistake him coming back. We should have recruited somebody new or tried Dobbie for a longer period.
