Will we be in the playoffs on 2nd January?

WOW that would be footy heaven. JUST stay unbeaten would be the best outcome. a win and two draws just keep us ticking over.

OUR last two are Barnsley at home and Reading away. Barnsley will be good un. Lancs/ Yorks right at the end and a tricky one at Reading . fighting for their lives at the moment.

Just looking at bottom of the table and Cheltenham who were cut adrift before they played us are now within 3 points of safety.
Exeter are dropping like a stone.

Sorry Alez but you pre-season prediction of relegation is looking extremely unlikely now.

All the happy clappers were repeatedly telling us that we would be in the playoffs at Christmas.🤷

Automatic promotion was mooted before the season started and after the Pompey result by a lot!

I'll no doubt be called a doom and gloomer or a negative ninny by even implying that it could be a little bit premature to be even thinking that the playoffs is a given. I prefer to call it pragmatism or managing expectations. It's absolutely clear that on our day we are as good as anyone (except maybe for Posh). But we've shown too we have struggled many times against mediocre/crap teams. Consistency is what brings success, always. We still are not consistent.

We need to be harder to beat or at the very least score against. Our defence is ropey! Our midfield is blessed and right now our strikers are doing the business. Keep Rhodes and get some pace in central defence as a minimum.

We could do with Cambridge continuing their current form as they play Oxford then Stevenage. The only top sides playing each other this week are Oxford v Derby and Posh v Barnsley so those in play off spots have to falter for us to replace them.

We need a very good January because in February and March we have 11 games, maybe 12 with Orient, and only 4 of them are at home, including Oxford, Bolton and Portsmouth.

We won’t be in the playoffs at all this season wouldn’t be suprised if we lost to Burton today they out played us second half at home and we’ve only ever won once there

We're in a poor quality league and on paper, we have a better squad than most, if not all the other clubs.
If things click in the 2nd half of the season, like they should, we'll easily finish in the top six.
If we continue to be inconsistent, then we won't.
For footballing reasons, I'm not an admirer of NC, but despite his failings, I do think we'll reach the playoffs.
