Will we keep Grimmy?

The only player who is not on loan who I think shows any potential in our side.
I realised today as much as I dislike Critchley, and clearly he has to shoulder a lot of the blame, most of our players are poor.

I do put most of the blame at Critchleys feet and I think if we had another manager we would have got play offs. However I also recognise that the players haven't stepped up, in fact most have taken a step backwards.

Is that 100% on the players or is it also something to do with playing an a formation that doesn't suit us and sitting on the back foot rather than playing attacking football when our best players are in attack. I think it's likely the latter.

That being said, I wouldn't mind if most of the squad was let go or sold in the summer and we bring in alot of fresh faces. I still maintain though that it doesn't really matter who we bring in player wise if Critchley is still our manager.

I think the players are a bit resigned to the selections, tactics and who know's what else. I don't think they are happy with it all despite the public comments some make that are designed not to get fined.

I think Grimmy is a good shot stopper but generally poor / under pressure on crosses and set pieces. His distribution is often slow and poor in terms of bring our strikers into play.

I don't think Grimmy has progressed as much as I thought he would. The basics he was good at he's getting better, but is he adding commanding his area and being a leader?
For me Grimmy is a top 10 lg1 keeper and nothing more. He is a great shot stopper but does not command his area or catch any crosses whatsoever for reasons I cannot fathom why. If he left would it weaken us? I would say no as there are plenty of other comparable keepers out there.

yep agree with that. Don't think he's good enough to go much higher in his career. Lower league championship at best.

Does not command his area on set pieces putting defenders under big pressure.

If I was Grimshaw or Gabriel I'd be trying to engineer a move. Pool are a dead duck under Sadler & Critchley so any half decent player should want out.
OR …. They show them what can be achieved and raise fhe bar to keep them?

I am certain Gabriel won't be playing for us next season - and sadly we won't get anything like his true value as his performances have deteriorated so much under Critchley.

Not a criticism but surely all our players would want out if they received a better offer ?

They've all got a better chance of getting better offers if they are better for us while they are here.
