Wishbone Ash Argus The Tour

Wow, what a great album a prog guitar lovers classic!!

I am going to Uriah Heep's 50th anniversary gig at Cambridge Corn Exchange in October and in an alternative reality I am coming up for Half Man Half Biscuit at the Emress Ballroom in October too.

What the f@ck have I just opened?

I’ve never heard of this band. More so prog rock is absolute torture to listen to 😁
I agree much prog rock such as Yes, Genesis etc is pseudo-classical guitar or keyboard noodling but Wishbone Ash weren’t. Their original twin lead guitar attack in the early 70s picked up from the Yardbirds style (Beck and Page) and was creative and Argus is an absolutely top notch album. Check out their other albums of this era too (WA 1, Pilgrimage). I saw WA in Manchester in 1976 and still remember it (somewhere I have the T-shirt).

Right gents.

Recommend me one album (please agree one) and I will listen to it with open ears and mind. 👍

I will be fair to this prog rock muck you are peddling 😁

Selling England by the Pound - Genesis
Red - King Crimson
Wish you were here - Pink Floyd

Just don't listen to any Emerson, Lake and Palmer!!

Rush......Hemispheres.....Cygnus X-1 it's a whole 30 minutes long.....or a Farewell to kings......Xanadu is a cracker
Genesis.....Trick of the tail.......Ripples and Los Endos
Yes...Close to the edge.........2 songs on a whole LP that lasts about an hour
Marillion....Script for a jester tear........He knows you know, Garden party & Forgotten sons.....80's attempt at Prog

All that early 70's stuff, just came across as musical masturbation, not a decent tune amongst them

Yes, he’s still touring. Keep your eyes peeled.

Archibald. I agree that Wishbone Ash were anything but "prog" in the conventional sense, and that those first three albums were gems. If you listen closely ( which I am sure you have) some of the tracks are clearly influenced by jazz-there is even scat-singing on a couple. There are also echoes of medieval and folk music, particularly on Argus.

I never saw you, then again I might have, if I knew what you looked like 😂 Argus what a fantastic album, done justice by tonight's performance 👍👍👍
Thanks to Bayern and yourself for the positive feedback. It prompted me to get out of my chair and go and buy tickets for tonight at the Bury Met.
