Worst Place you've stood as a fan/in a ground

Nice to hear from you Ticker! Your Alan was going nuts cos the chubby Pool fan near us kept saying 'I don't understand it, we are a good side...'

He was right though, the start of Billy Ayres reign had, or was about to, start

You too mate, you do realise now though given the demographic of this site that there’s 40 or 50 blokes sat at home wondering if they were the chubby Pool fan in question😂

Has to be Twerton Park against Bristol Rovers ,,,,first time Pool won ,,,but in 90s ,,,it was like a building site ,,,

Doncaster Rovers ,,,was a cage ,,,

In terms of view, Oxford United away at the Manor Ground. The top steps of the away end were at pitch level and it dropped away from there.
Kudos also to the cinder banks at Springfield Park, the Shay, Rochdale,
I was at Donny v Blackpool FA Cup 2nd round, Dec 1980. We were so bad I ended up watching the airstrip behind the ground - apropos of nothing in particular.
I had also tried to forget that day at Belle Vue but you’ve gone and reminded me!

I went to Chesterfield (Saltergate) once: new years day 1999? 0-0, I got soaked (or cold or both). I hadn't found any pub to go to pre-match. Returning home I saw that door to door was exactly 100 miles. That was the only interesting thing about the whole day. Oh, and I saw the twisted spire.

Main Rd a cup game right at the top & I think it was temporary as I seem to remember scaffolding, we were 3 down by the time we got there (due to shite directions & other mitigating circumstances.
The only time i remember seeing us play at Maine rd was in the 98/99 season... first game of the season and we lost 3-0.... we were housed in a temp stand in the corner of the ground and when we got back to the car it'd been done over... 3 wheels popped and the windows put it! I'll never forget that day! 🤣

Just saw Chris Hull's Tweet about the old mud bank at Springfield Park - undoubtedly the worst place I have stood as a fan. Anywhere else has similar bid memories?!
You could have stood near that tiny stand they had when they were chucking all kind of everything on us from outside the ground in that infamous Fa cup game…but I agree that area behind the goal was a disgrace.

Yeah I got the cup bit wrong, that was the one. We got lost looking for the ring road as I think the signage was different to the directions given by the club. Funny thing was a City fan from work bumped into us at the late gate, he got lost too 😂 he pleaded with me not to spill the beans.

I only remember it because it was the first time i'd been to the ground. Fortunately I wasn't the one driving and the one who was had been there before. Otherwise I'd have probably been in your shoes!

First time we'd played in front of more than 30,000 since the day we were relegated against Brighton in 1978. Trivia nonsense...

But Springfield Park was my worst too. I too was there when the bricks and stones were lobbed over the little corrugated iron cowshed stand into the cinders on the away end.

We knew a lad on Brightons coaching staff so had the pleasure of seats in the home end and "players bar" afterwards.
The whole place had to be returned to an athletics stadium within some ridiculous time limit after a match had ended.
Amazing to see the goal posts being wheeled away and a net for hammer / discus being in their place within an hr of the game ending. Lost 4-0.

I sit on the ground level at Bloomfield Rd with my pal who is disabled and is in a mobility scooter.

The view is absolutely rubbish.
Link that in with people arriving late, leaving early at half time, arriving late back after half time, leaving their seats to stand and watch the last bits of the game at the front......players warming up in front of us, and you can forget anything at the South end of the ground due to the managers, coaches and officials....really, it is poor by BFC.
I have contacted the SLO on a couple of occasions but was told,
1 they would look into it....and they were aware of the situation.
2 when the new east stand was to be built it the issue would be addressed.

BFC have made great strides since Mr Saddler and his team took over the running of the club and I understand that it's a difficult situation to try to resolve, but literally nothing has happened and it's so frustrating.

Agree with op, old Wigan ground, just came back from turkey 40 degrees to stand behind the net fkin freezin pissin down, took the missus you could tell she was impressed 😆

That game, we were visiting my wife's grandma in London that weekend. Saturday morning we were looking for somewhere to take her out for the day. Knowing the reaction if I suggested it outright, I said let's take her to Brighton. It was agreed it was a lovely idea, so I felt safe to broach the subject of going to the game.

Left them in town, I'd no idea how to get there, it was about 3.15 by the time I even got in the right area. Was totally unprepared for the setup, a bit like a big Thornton Sports Centre, between a small gap in the buildings I could just see a sliver of the pitch. Unfortunately it turned out to be the end we were attacking, so there wasn't much to see.

The game was all ticket, so couldn't get in. I watched as much as I could stand through the gap, heard the fourth go in while I was filling up at a station down the road.

Burden Park (Bolton) away end with a store covering some of the view was awful. It's never been exactly sparkling when we've been to Goodison Park (Everton,) or at Prenton Park (Tranmere.)

The old Doncaster ground was crap and that game marked the beginning of the long descent into lower league hell!

Ginge, I sympathise. I'm in M Block and if I'm travelling by tram I try to get away straight on the final whistle. To do that, however, I usually head down the steps and sit in a vacated seat at the end of an N block row rather than standing on the front concourse, blocking the view for those with low seats.

Like Peter Spruce said Halifax, circa 1982/3, lost 2-0 stood on a mound of dirt, stones bricks and all sorts were intermittently thrown from somewhere behind us, Police on Horses pushing us into a single line to get in , Horrendous day.
I'm remembering fog and/or frost. Same game?

Don't know who remembers this but I think the first time we played Wigan competitively was at Springfield in the FA Cup - a night match. I travelled from Leeds to watch it. We lost and I remember the odd half brick being lobbed at us. Anyway, at the end, Blackpool police gathered us all together and marched us to the train station. They weren't interested in me wanting to go to Leeds. On route there was the occasional fan I saw taken off into a side street for a, ahem, conversation. When we were bundled onto the train we were penned, sardine-like, into one or two carriages. As luck would have it, the train was full of delegates going to the TUC conference at Blackpool. They complained to the Police about their heavy handed behaviour which led to other carriages being made available to the fans.

Maidstone (Dartford), Springfield Park, Newport

Plus arriving late at Sheff Weds away in the League Cup before the Hillsborough disaster. Had to push through the tunnel to get through to the central paddock at the Leppings Lane End. We commented at the time that the tunnel would be pretty claustrophobic on semi final days. It wasn't great with around 1000 Blackpool there....

Was also in the paddock in the San Siro before it was all seater for Italia 90. It was the start of the season and very hot and the paddock was in the sun for most of the game. Don't think I've ever been so hot. That said it was a great experience other than that

Deepdale 13th April 1970 when Blackpool took over 20,000 fans there and everybody was jumping up and down on the wooden steps in the standing area. I was sure the Stand was going to collapse that night.

I remember the old open end there back in the 70's. Pool fans lobbing snowballs at their goalie. Took my girlfriend and she was so cold she started crying!
I remember a little girl sat near us with her dad, at the Reebok stadium, crying because she was so cold. Happily, I was able to give her one of my blankets so vehemently scoffed at by my sons 😂…

anfield with a stantion right in front of me also old trafford with disabled behind goal cross bar was level with eyeline horrible view
